The theme for this shoot was Liino's stage outfit from Arknights: Endfield. The overall costume design blends sailor-style elements with stage techwear; the primary palette of blue, white, and black paired with numerous star and strap details proved far more three-dimensional and layered once worn than I had envisioned. In particular, the pointed ear props, the red-and-black horn accessories on the hair, and the heart-shaped earrings gave the entire styling exceptional recognition on camera.
Before shooting, I carefully groomed the golden-highlighted sections of the wig to ensure the curve of the bangs closely matched the character's original design. The placement of the cross hairpin was also adjusted several times so it caught a subtle gleam of light as angles shifted. The mic stand in the first full-body shot and the screen backdrop were part of a simulated live stage built on set; the hanging cables and speaker equipment added an authentic live-house atmosphere. The studio was washed in abundant cool blue and magenta tones that created a nice contrast with my blue-and-white skirt. The gaffer set the rim backlighting quite high, fringing the hair strands with a soft halo and lending a translucent radiance to the entire figure.
The shooting process was more tiring than anticipated. The black leggings and platform ankle boots beneath the skirt, combined with frequent switching between standing poses and hand gestures, left my knees and calves feeling sore after consecutive sets. But looking back at the camera previews—especially the winking peace-sign shot in Photo 3 and the open-handed claw pose in Photo 4—made all the effort worthwhile. The sleeve design of this outfit is fascinating: the wide blue-and-white color-blocked sleeves paired with blue gloves draped naturally when raising my arms, greatly enhancing the dynamic flow.
Photo 2 captures a candid moment holding a round compact mirror to check my makeup. The photographer asked me to pretend to touch up my makeup; while the mirror's back was solid and I was merely holding it as a gesture, that angle perfectly showcased the purple necktie and metal pendant while keeping my gaze directed naturally at the camera. In Photo 5, the closed-eye shot with folded hands was a relaxed gesture I made later in the shoot; the side-overhead lighting cast gentle shadows from my eyelashes and bangs across my face, creating an exquisitely tender ambiance.
As a cosplayer frequently shooting anime characters, the greatest challenge this time was mastering the stage presence—not merely striking pretty poses, but ensuring every arm lift and wink carried the confident, playful charisma of a Stage little idol. Liino's styling in Arknights: Endfield inherently carries strong stage attributes, so I deliberately incorporated interactive elements during shooting, such as gripping the microphone windscreen or gesturing toward the lens to convey the dynamic rhythm of a performance through static images.
Fidelity in props and wardrobe was equally important to me. The star decorations on the skirt, the waist belt buckle, and the strap textures on the gloves were checked during close-up reviews with the photographer. With numerous cables on set, moving around required caution to avoid tripping, and I almost stepped on the microphone base a few times, but everything concluded safely. What satisfied me most about this look were the bust and close-up shots, which highlighted the clean makeup base and the glossy sheen of the wig, while the full-body shots clearly contextualized the stage setting.
Reviewing the folder after wrapped shooting, I found each photo carried a distinct mood—some lively, some gentle, and others tinged with languid stage fatigue. Cosplay's meaning extends beyond visual resemblance; it lies in using expressions and gestures to inhabit the character's state within a specific scene. Despite the complex lighting, post-processing avoided excessive retouching to preserve genuine skin texture and natural facial shading for a more authentic feel.
Overall, it was a smooth shoot. The photographer excelled at capturing highlights and communicated angle adjustments after every shutter click, keeping shooting efficiency very high. Immersed in this stage atmosphere, I truly connected with the character, and I hope these photos showcase Liino's adorable and energetic Stage little idol charm.
