[Cinderella cosplay] Goddess of Victory: Nikke — The Atmospheric Vibe of a Rainy Day Convention Photoshoot

The May Day Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo happened to run into rainy weather; I was originally worried that the outdoor shoot would go awry, but the resulting photos unexpectedly matched this outfit wonderfully. As a cosplayer long immersed in Anime cosplay, convention photos, and various themed studio shoots, I actually have a slight aversion to shooting in the rain—on one hand, gear is sensitive to water, and on the other, silver high heels easily slip on wet asphalt. However, after communicating with photographer @Alma玛, we decided to take advantage of a break in the rain to quickly snap a few shots in front of puddles outside the convention hall. Unexpectedly, this sparked some of my most satisfying photos recently.

The design of this Cinderella cosplay styling is exceedingly delicate, embracing a cool-toned palette of silver-white and black-gray. The silver-white long hair was tied into iconic high twin tails, accented on both sides with black bow hairpieces, evoking an airy, youthful charm. For makeup, I opted for earth tones paired with red contact lenses, creating contrast against the silver hair without appearing overly sharp, while retaining a touch of the character's cool detachment. The costume is richly layered: a white lace-textured inner layer beneath an outer drape of silver-gray translucent sheer tulle, a lightweight sheer material ideally suited for capturing that moist, hazy ambiance after the rain. The shoulders and arms are fitted with white lace short gloves, while the black choker at the neck paired with a black pendant and bow at the chest serve as the visual focal points within this black, white, and gray color scheme.

The baseline setting during the shoot was quite complex, featuring misty woods in the background and occasional passing visitors. Thanks to a wide-aperture lens, however, the background was blurred into lovely circular bokeh balls and soft color blocks, allowing visual focus to remain entirely on the character in the foreground. My favorite pose was a mid-jump single-leg balance while holding the edges of the translucent tulle skirt with both hands; this posture highlighted the airy flow of the skirt while elongating overall body proportions, accentuating leg lines in silver pointed-toe high heels. Squatting beside the puddle was a true test of balance—silver heels on a slick surface meant any slight misstep could lead to slipping—yet seeing the crisp reflection in the water puddle intertwining with the cool-toned skylight made all the previous risks feel completely worth it.

For a female cosplayer doing an outdoor shoot on a rainy day, the biggest worries are always the wig and makeup. Despite the high humidity that day, my wig was properly styled and set, maintaining a fluffy texture without collapsing. The reflective ground and moist air unexpectedly gave this inherently cool-toned outfit a remarkably crisp, sharp presence. The shots captured by the photographer utilized the water puddle reflections to amplify the gray-white palette, successfully recreating a tranquil yet subtly distant atmosphere. Although running around the convention venue was exhausting and the clothes got a bit damp from rainwater, seeing the final images with their hazy yet crisp high-end texture instantly healed all the fatigue. This set of photos required no superfluous filters, relying solely on the natural overcast cloudy light and standing ground water. During a packed convention schedule, such a quiet and distinctive Rainy day convention photoshoot felt far more rewarding than shooting cluttered indoor sets in crowded convention halls.
