These convention photos of Kasugano Sora from Yosuga no Sora are finally organized today.
This shoot took place around New Year's Day during the Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo. The outdoor location was chosen at a modern architectural plaza near the convention center, featuring sweeping steps, railings crafted from glass and metal, and generous patches of greenery. The weather that day was wonderful; the lighting from afternoon to dusk was brilliant, laying a phenomenal foundation for capturing translucent, airy frames.
For the wardrobe, I wore a pure white high-neck dress embellished with delicate bows and lace along the collar and bodice, featuring wide ruffled flutter sleeves and side slits along the skirt that reveal leg lines when walking or spinning. It was paired with ribbed white calf-high White stockings and black leather Mary Jane shoes. The wig was an exceptionally long and thick straight light-blonde style cut with blunt bangs. To heighten character fidelity, I shaped an ahoge cowlick on top and fastened thin black satin ribbons on both sides of the head. The makeup emphasized crimson-toned eyeshadow and sharp eyeliner matched with red lips, striving to channel her signature cool, aloof, and subtly melancholic aura.
The most essential prop across the entire set was that dark grey floppy-eared rabbit plush. Tied with a white ribbon around its neck, it provided wonderful interaction during the shoot. Whether raising it high overhead with both hands, clutching it tightly against my chest, or casually dangling the rabbit by its ears with one hand, it kept the compositions dynamic and lively. To achieve diverse visual perspectives, we experimented with multiple postures across the stairs. Sitting on the steps holding the rabbit, I tilted my face slightly aside or placed the bunny directly across my lap; while standing, I practiced walking down the staircase slowly so the photographer could freeze the billowing movement of the skirt in motion.
What left the deepest impression during shooting was repeatedly calibrating my footwork and spin velocity around the spot in Photo 9 to capture that swirling, airborne skirt effect. The breeze was brisk that day, making the skirt hem tricky to control, but the captured motion carried tremendous dynamic energy, with the White stockings and black shoes standing out crisply in the frame. To maintain character composure, I avoided completely letting my guard down even during breaks, staying in that quiet, understated mindset to slip effortlessly back into character before the lens.
Crowds are massive during an expo, so finding such a relatively quiet spot with fantastic light within limited space owes immense thanks to the photographer's patience and pre-shoot scouting. Portraying this character demanded considerable effort in smoothing the dress, combing the long wig, and maintaining the props, all while keeping constant watch over fabric wrinkles and flyaway hairs on set. I am thrilled with the overall texture of these Convention photos and hope this harmony of white gown and grey rabbit conveys her singular ambiance to everyone. See you all at the next convention!
