[Cyrene Cosplay] Ethereal Maiden Weaving White and Purple from Honkai: Star Rail

The finished photos of my Cyrene cosplay from Bilibili World are finally ready. Bringing Cyrene from Honkai: Star Rail to life—from garment pattern-making to wig styling—demanded an immense amount of energy.

First, about the outfit: it features a delicate blend of white and soft purple with intricate layering. The bodice incorporates a plunging V cutout with crisscross ties, which required extreme precision for fit and modesty protection; before stepping out, I secured everything with wardrobe tape and added concealed snap fasteners to the lining. The three-dimensional floral trim across the chest and the arm sleeves had to maintain a crisp, structured contour, requiring careful handling during dressing to prevent flattening the silhouette. The skirt features multi-tiered pleats and ruffles; to navigate the convention halls smoothly, I slightly shortened the inner lining while sewing small weights along the hem to preserve a graceful drape.

For the wig, I trimmed textured layers into long, wavy pink locks with a soft gradient toward the ends. The twig and leaf hair ornaments atop the crown were anchored with hairpins and clear monofilament wire; finding the right angle so they stood upright naturally without looking excessive took several adjustments. For makeup, I wore violet contact lenses and applied a pinkish-purple eyeshadow base topped with delicate fine glitter. To suit the studio-style lights, highlights and contouring were applied more prominently, keeping facial features defined and dimensional under bright fixtures.

The shoot was held on-site at Bilibili World. Lighting across convention halls is often chaotic, dominated by harsh overhead lamps. To craft a dreamy ambiance, my photographer and I scouted an installation area backed by holographic laser crystal props that refracted iridescent rainbow flares. By utilizing a side-backlit angle, we created a gentle rim light tracing my silhouette, separating the white attire and pink hair from the colorful background reflections while bringing a translucent glow to the fabric textures.

As a cosplayer frequently attending conventions and location shoots, wearing this outfit on-site was genuinely taxing. To prevent the long streamers and delicate tulle from tripping me or getting stepped on by passing crowds, I had to keep the skirt slightly lifted with one hand the entire time. Furthermore, because the chest straps and choker were snug, breathing and bending had to be measured, making quick breaks in the dressing room essential to catch my breath. However, seeing the tiered folds of the skirt, cutout craftsmanship, and brilliant ambient light blend seamlessly in the final edits made every bit of effort worthwhile.

Cosplay goes beyond merely wearing clothing—it is about channeling the character's intrinsic essence. Cyrene embodies an airy, enigmatic grace. When posing, I kept my limbs elongated and softened my gaze, leaning into the prismatic crystal reflections to convey an otherworldly state. If you plan to shoot against similar holographic reflective backdrops, bringing a compact fill light to illuminate the face from the front-side is highly recommended; it not only eliminates dark eye-socket shadows cast by ceiling lights but also lends skin a soft, refined porcelain finish.
