When shooting this set of photos, we happened to catch the golden hour in the evening. The reflection on the lake combined with the softness created by the sunset perfectly balanced the coldness and loneliness inherently carried by Firefly as a character. The buildings on the opposite bank were blurred into silhouettes, and the inverted highlight on the water surface fit the atmosphere of "a newborn bud breaking soil" or "a firefly diving into flame"—lonely, brave, and resolute.

The lighting outside the World Line Anime Convention was actually quite messy, but picking a location next to reeds and a lawn was unexpectedly tranquil. Many details of this costume required attention during styling check: for example, the gold trim on the black jacket, the orange diamond bowtie, and those dark blue ribbons and hair ornaments. The semi-transparent teal-blue skirt hem reflected light differently at various angles, so during the shoot, the photographer and I constantly adjusted standing positions to capture the exact moment when water ripples reflected onto the skirt.

What I wanted to recreate most was the character's core traits, so during shooting I consciously managed my posture to make body movements as expansive as possible. The second pose holding a weapon and the later posture sitting on the ground both expressed a sense of guardianship and determination. The imagery of "scorched earth" in the scene was metaphorically conveyed through the dark water and deep vegetation, while the character's white hair and teal-blue-white outfit became that flower growing against the light.

Being outdoors, the wind inevitably blew my hair strands messy, but it actually added realism to the "mecha girl" in the wilderness from the original setting. For wig and outfit designs requiring a posture that remains upright, the restraint of the waist cinch was quite significant; nevertheless, for the photo results, I tightened my core muscles almost the entire time. The lower section of the skirt has layered tulle that creates great dynamic movement when walking, but when standing still, skirt flatness needs attention, which can be a headache during editing. Thankfully, the lighting that day was fantastic, making the raw images feel very translucent.

To be honest, while shooting, monologue lines about "scorched earth" and "newborn buds" frequently popped into my mind. Although in reality we were just wearing cosplay outfits taking photos at the city's edge, looking through the lens and across this reflecting water made it feel as though we truly stepped into that story of resolutely burning oneself. The costume's small accessories didn't have many complex metal parts, which instead made the character appear lighter. The only regret was not bringing a wider focal length lens to capture more of the city skyline behind us, but the current composition and atmosphere are already spot on.

This photo set underwent almost no heavy retouching, preserving the natural breeze and light/shadow interactions, marking a highly satisfying record for this trip to the World Line Anime Convention. As an attempt to recreate this character, whether in posture control or the firmness in my gaze, I hope it conveys through the screen to everyone who sees it. May we meet again in awoken reality; no matter what wilderness we find ourselves in, may we all discover that touch of morning sun.
