Delivering my official cosplay photoshoot set for Seiga Kaku from Touhou Project today. Working alongside photographer Yu Chen and the Chenxing Photography Studio was an absolute pleasure. We chose to move beyond standard Ancient style photography backdrops, opting instead for a visual tone that harmonizes oriental classical grace with a chilling, eerie netherworld ambiance.

Immense thought was poured into the hair and makeup to capture her elusive essence. The wig was chosen in a muted greyish-blue tone; to sculpt her iconic looped twin buns, the stylist repeatedly adjusted the internal wire supports to ensure they appeared lightweight yet three-dimensional before the lens. Golden tassel hairpins and delicate beaded strings adorned the hair, echoing the crimson eyeshadow along the outer corners of my eyes—allowing the makeup to retain her aloof hermit dignity while infusing an uncanny, captivating glamour.

Fabric texture makes a world of difference during a shoot. This ensemble features exquisite layering: a cyan-blue primary palette paired with dark green brocade textiles, veiled under sheer white lace and tulle. The neckline and shoulder exposure struck an ideal balance, flattering bodily contours without feeling overdone. The black crisscross ribbons cinching the waist served as the defining highlight, paired with metallic tassel accessories to bridge modern edge and 2D fantasy charm. The high-slit cut of the skirt allowed me to elongate leg lines through diverse poses, keeping the overall composition dynamic and fluid.

The set dressing on set was breathtaking. Wooden lanterns radiated warm yellow glows against deep teal backdrop lighting—this clash of warm and cool light dialed visual drama to the maximum. Scattered skulls and skeleton props rested alongside pink blossoms and verdant bamboo shoots, intertwining themes of life, death, decay, and bloom. Cradling a long kiseru pipe in hand or lightly caressing the bone props amid swirling dry-ice fog truly felt like stepping into an enchanted, forgotten realm.

Throughout the shoot, I continuously modulated my breathing and eye focus to project that languid, enigmatic aura. From preparation and shooting to post-processing color grading, every single phase was dedicated to recreating the character's elusive nature. This project serves as a wonderful milestone for my recent creative journey; I hope these frames convey Seiga Kaku's singular allure, and I eagerly look forward to exploring even more diverse styles ahead.
