This Hu Tao New Year themed shoot was specially filmed in a real-scene studio filled with Lunar New Year flavor. Traditional elements like red lanterns, spring couplets, large gold sycees, and tanghulu unexpectedly match Director Hu's character temperament perfectly. The costume restores the dark brown Chinese-style top and short skirt, paired with the iconic Hexagram Hat and red collar details. Even the wig and hair accessories were finely adjusted according to the scene's lighting. The makeup focuses on highlighting the red of the pupils and the sharpness of the eye makeup, giving Hu Tao's playfulness a touch of mischievous charm.

During the shoot, I tried several different states, such as the moment of putting hands together to pray for blessings, or that triumphant expression while holding a golden sycee, which all fit Hu Tao's character design quite well. To capture that festive yet agile atmosphere, the photographer and I repeatedly adjusted the position of the light source, using warm yellow side-backlighting to outline the silhouette, letting a soft rim light bleed through the hair strands and clothing edges, while the foreground bokeh also added layers to the frame.

This kind of traditional Chinese festival setting requires a high level of restoration for cosplay photography, and the placement of props and composition need to be planned in advance. Although the shooting process was exhausting, seeing the prosperous and vibrant red tones in the final photos made all the hard work feel completely worth it. I hope that through this set of photos, the bustling excitement of the Lunar New Year and Hu Tao's vitality can be delivered to everyone.
