This time, I'm sharing this Columbina Cosplay work from Genshin Impact, shot a few days ago at a comic convention with a photographer friend. When putting on this look, the most immediate impression was sheer lightness. The blue-and-white color scheme, combined with flowing sheer gauze fabrics, allowed the skirt hem and sleeves to naturally billow with every movement as I walked around the venue.
Regarding the headpiece and hairstyle, I deliberately chose a black hair base accented with eye-catching reddish-pink highlights, which is a classic signature detail of the character. The white bird feather wings headpiece on top required precise angle adjustments to fit the head contour without looking clunky. During the shoot, whenever wind blew or in moments of leaping, the feathers and hair strands fluttered together, creating a wonderful dynamic effect like Sheer gauze wings.
For fabric selection, the outer blue material provides great translucency and airiness, layered over an inner white mini-skirt. This layered combination beautifully retains the character's dreamy, sacred aura. I specifically tuned the tightness of the white ribbons wrapped around my arms to ensure they hugged the arm contours without leaving pressure marks. What won my heart most was the pair of white crisscross Strappy high heels cosplay sandals extending up to the calves—this design visually elongates the legs and harmonizes with the upper body's sheer textures.
The on-site environment on the day of the shoot was relatively cluttered, as you can see from the background with convention lighting, ceiling lights, and various camera gear. To make the subject stand out in this Convention photography, the photographer used selective color retention in post-processing—converting the chaotic background to black-and-white while retaining only the blue, white, and red-highlighted hair, focusing the visual spotlight entirely on the character.
In terms of action design, we explored several distinct setups. In the first shot, I leaped into mid-air with one knee bent and arms outstretched, coordinating with the billowing skirt hem to specifically convey that otherworldly, ethereal agility. The second pose sitting on a black tall stool is relatively quiet—legs crossed, arms resting naturally in front, conveying a static beauty of languor or contemplation through a tilted face and focused gaze. The third pose sitting on the floor aimed for a more relaxed, casual mood, letting the sheer gauze spread naturally across the floor.
In reality, wearing strappy high heels at a convention venue and holding poses for a long time does get tiring, but for the sake of the final result, it was all completely manageable. The photographer captured the timing brilliantly; the mid-air leaping shot worked in one go without many discarded takes. For makeup, we considered lighting and camera absorption at conventions, keeping lip color subtle while emphasizing the reddish blend around the eyes to harmonize with the wig colors and the blue-and-white outfit.
In terms of lighting, the on-site photography lights provided crisp rim lighting, making the sequins and semi-sheer gauze textures stand out vividly. Recreating this outfit's silhouette was challenging due to the delicate ribbons and strap structures; wearing open-toe strappy sandals also required caution while walking to avoid tripping. Nonetheless, the final results—whether dynamic action captures or serene seated poses—made me thoroughly pleased. I hope this photo set conveys the ethereal elegance that this Genshin Impact character deserves.
