[Yae Miko Cosplay] Inazuma's Pink Fox: Narukami Photoshoot Under the Sunshine - Image 1

This Narukami cosplay photoshoot scheduled with my close friend has successfully drawn to a close. Taking advantage of the freshness of just getting the raw photos, let's talk about the insights from this Yae Miko shoot. The preparation for the entire project actually started months ago; from the material selection of the costume to the customized styling of the wig, every step was hoped to get closer to that Lady Guuji of the Grand Narukami Shrine. I am highly grateful to my friend this time for being willing to brave the blazing sun to carry the camera and find angles for me, giving me this rare opportunity to personally interpret a fragment of my favorite character.

To recreate Yae Miko's iconic pink long hair, I specially customized this high-volumizing wig. After multiple rounds of trimming and styling, it finally achieved that lively, flowing yet untangled feel shown in the pictures. The hair color under the sunshine presents an excellent sense of translucency, and paired with the fox ear hair accessories, the completion of the overall styling genuinely leaves me quite satisfied.

For the eye makeup, I used purple colored contacts paired with pink-purple toned eyeshadow, attempting to capture that playful, nonchalant yet deeply meaningful gaze. Though separated by the lens, I feel that as long as the gaze is in place, the character's soul can be vividly called forth. For the camera, the lip color selected is a relatively natural fleshy pink tone, which doesn't overshadow the subject yet lets the entire face look soft and confident. The set of hair accessories paired in the photos features golden parts cooperating with purple gemstones, serving as a minor echo to the character settings, and the final output effect is genuinely magnificent.

For this shoot, we didn't choose a complex indoor studio but instead selected an outdoor street abundant with green foliage. The reason is simple: the light and shadow of nature can never be completely simulated in post-production. The intense yet warm sunshine slanting down from above gilded a layer of golden halo onto the hair, adding more texture to the character in the frame. I remember the light was somewhat strong during the shoot, frequently requiring me to close my eyes to adjust, but the final feeling of that light scattering unevenly onto my cheeks instead enhanced the atmospheric photo vibe. Truth be told, although outdoor shooting is hard, photos carrying natural wind, green plants, and authentic light and shadow are indeed much more vivid than photos relying completely on studio lighting layout.

In this preparation, aside from the attire, I cared particularly about the details of the handheld prop. The golden decorative element exposed on the left side of the frame, though only a part of the prop, has just the right metallic texture and color saturation; it also holds a certain weight in hand without looking cheap. To someone who treats cosplay seriously, the texture of props is just as important as the costume.

Actually, across my entire cosplay experience, what moves me the most is attempting to understand the personalities of different characters through role-playing. Yae Miko, as a character who is both knowledgeable and versatile, blending solemnity with humor, actually requires some internal aura from the performer. This time, I tried my best to relax myself in terms of expressions and body language, dissolving that composure and casualness into the shooting process. Although the finalized photos aren't out yet, judging from the current raw images in the camera, I quite approve of my state that day; certain inadvertent candid captures carry even more flavor.

Speaking of the shooting day, although the sunshine was great, the temperature was also quite high. Braving the full set of gear and a wig was genuinely a test of endurance. However, thanks to the companionship and active guidance of my close friend, the entire shooting process was conducted in an exceptionally joyful atmosphere. Sometimes, to capture a natural smile, we had to repeatedly adjust our standing positions and postures, even crouching on the ground for an upward shot. All the dedication was purely in the hope of leaving no regrets when getting the final photos.

Additionally, it's worth mentioning that to facilitate movement and shooting, I selected a relatively thin, light, and casual summer T-shirt for this 2D daily life clothing match, instead of wearing the relatively complex and heavy official Guuji attire. Although some trade-offs were made regarding Genshin Impact cosplay recreation accuracy on this point, for the sake of comfort and mobility during the shooting process, this kind of outfit solution provided more room for creative play. Many movements didn't need to be constrained by clothing, which instead beautifully displayed the character's lively charm.

I remember a specific shooting detail where I turned my body and looked back; the sunshine happened to hit the pink hair strands, making the purple eyes look exceptionally bright. My friend kept pressing the shutter right beside me at that moment; that frame beautifully offset the green plants. I particularly love this kind of casual candid capture under natural light, which carries a bit more soul than deliberate posing.

Now that the shoot has ended, we have entered the long phase of waiting for photo edits. Looking at these negative previews in the camera, my heart is actually filled with expectation. Because we had already communicated well about the desired feeling during the shoot, I believe the post-production can adjust the light and color tones to look even more spectacular. This time, my overall state was completely on point, and the raw photos have a great baseline. I hope they can receive everyone's love, but it is also more about leaving a beautiful memory for myself.

Doing cosplay until now, I have always felt that dressing up a character with absolute dedication and trying your best to perceive the world she is in is a highly meaningful thing. The fruits of this day's hard work with my close friend are just beginning to take shape right now; when getting the finely retouched final photos, there will definitely be even more surprises. This Narukami-themed shoot is filled with the brightness and enthusiasm of early summer; I look forward to the final photo effects and presenting a satisfying answer sheet for this hard yet joyful experience.
