Cosplaying Columbina Cosplay and Sandrone Cosplay as a duo for CP32 was a journey filled with equal parts anxiety and excitement during planning and execution, but in the end, it yielded pure happiness. In early May, as the weather was warming up, setting up our little tea party booth inside the convention hall left us feeling rather uncertain.
As a cosplayer who hasn't been in the community for too long, this was actually my very first time doing Anime convention cosplay at a massive event like Comicup, and even more so my first attempt at hosting a mini tea party booth. While preparing our fan freebies, Sandrone and I spent endless hours thinking about how to arrange the booth to capture a true "tea party" aesthetic, pouring immense thought into picking teasets, cups, and tabletop decor. We also continually adjusted our hair accessories and costume details to present a refined, faithful look on-site.
Before heading out, the two of us even joked half-kiddingly that if no one visited our booth, we'd have to chug all eight bottles of Oriental Leaf tea ourselves (laughs). This worry haunted me leading up to the event, especially since I'm a private, quiet person—a classic poker-faced introvert whose facial expressions often go offline. I was terrified that looking unenthusiastic might make interested fans feel distant.
Yet on the day of the convention, all my anxieties dissolved with the sound of approaching footsteps. Once I put on the full costume, styled my wig, and stood before the booth, sweet fellow fans began walking up to us one after another. Watching those adorable, cupcake-like girls run over to our booth brought a joy that words can hardly capture. Although I'm usually bad at initiating conversation, facing everyone who came for photos, chat, and tea made my heart flutter with genuine excitement.
Our tea party setup was simple but genuinely heartfelt—complete with a small table, cups, saucers, and hand-packed freebies. From handing out the very first freebie to watching them all get taken home, the sense of accomplishment from having our effort received was immensely profound. So many people paused to chat or pose for photos in front of our customized tea party backdrop. Before we knew it, we had handed out every single freebie! It completely exceeded our expectations.
Photo 4 displays just a portion of the return freebies and gifts I received from sweet fans; quite a few had to be stowed away into my bag in a rush and couldn't be photographed, for which I'm so sorry! But I've treasured every bit of your kindness—postcards, can badges, self-made mini art books, and even snacks. These thoughtfully prepared tokens made the once distant concept of "fandom connection" feel tangible and warm.
This Coser daily life experience reminded me how detailed these costumes are—with layered cuffs and chest ornaments that demand considerable physical energy to wear. Walking around the convention hall for half a day definitely left my waist and shoulders sore, but that sweaty, humid hustle is precisely what gave us the true sensation of "being at Comicup." We faced minor hiccups adjusting prop arrangements at the booth, but crouching down to tweak things by hand was a fun part of the process.
This was an extraordinarily happy CP experience. From initial nervous jitters to reluctant goodbyes, every memory remains so vivid. I hope to meet everyone again at the next convention, continuing these joyful and fulfilling cosplay days!
