When shooting this set of Wuthering Waves Phoebe Cosplay photos, the outdoors happened to have that kind of cloudy weather with soft lighting but no strong contrast between light and dark, perfectly matching the state described in the gentle ocean breeze post. This styling selects the classic blue and white color scheme, where the deep blue sailor collar and light blue layered skirt hem form the main visual framework. Coupled with a large bow featuring striped textures and a white top, the overall style leans toward a refreshing route with certain functional details. When preparing this costume, I paid special attention to the woven textures on the collar and cuffs, as well as the lace trim on the skirt hem, trying to minimize any bulkiness caused by fabric layering.
The wig section features long, bright golden curls. The trimming of the bangs and sideburns needed to coordinate with the wearing angle of the hat, because the side of the hat features a large deep blue bow. Its position had to be hidden and integrated with the wig's sideburns to ensure it wouldn't go askew even after being worn outdoors for a long time. The black metallic-textured choker worn around the neck actually plays a significant role in tightening the overall silhouette, filling in the empty space of the neckline and visually elongating the neck line. The metal chain and flowers on the hat are also detailed matchings which, paired with the overall cool-toned filter, provide some detailed reflections. This set of photos chose an outdoor environment with natural plants and steps as the background. The post-processing did not use any special stylized treatments, preserving the natural, soft skin texture and the clothing's original colors under diffuse light as much as possible. The shooting process was actually very relaxed. My photographer friend caught several natural interaction states; poses like propping my chin with one hand or clasping both hands were relatively relaxed expressions of emotion.
While shooting official cosplay photos, I increasingly feel that a character's temperament doesn't necessarily have to be displayed through exaggerated movements; sometimes, the coordination between micro-expressions and the costume itself can give the imagery a greater sense of narrative. The waistline design of this costume is relatively simple, but because of this, it is easy to keep tidy during outdoor activities without needing to adjust the skirt hem frequently. The makeup also leaned toward a clean and translucent direction, without overly heavy eyeshadow. The focus was mainly placed on the contact lenses and eyeliner to make the eyes look brighter.
Regarding the clothing details, I spent a lot of time adjusting the layers of the skirt beforehand. The skirt utilizes a three-layer patchwork of white, light blue, and deep blue, paired with white lace at the bottom. Although this multi-layer cupcake skirt structure looks beautiful, it has strict requirements for the petticoat, otherwise it easily makes the skirt hem look insufficiently fluffy. Ultimately, a steel-boned hard tulle petticoat was selected to pair with the soft fabric of the upper layers, achieving the current natural drape. To match the blonde setting, the wig utilized a high-temperature silk material, and the curls were recombed to avoid an overly messy, frizzy look. During the shooting process, to stand out against the background of green plants and stone steps, we utilized the contrast between the cool tones and the warm-colored hair strands, making the color layers of the image richer.
Additionally, most of the camera positions chosen for this set of photos were near human eye level, which makes the distance between the character and the lens feel closer, giving the viewer an illusion that they casually ran into the person themselves in this forest. Continuously adjusting angles and expressions for two consecutive hours was also a test of physical strength and facial control. Fortunately, in the final selected photos, the overall atmosphere and that gentle, calm temperament were fully conveyed. In fact, cosplay is not just about putting on clothes; it is more like an experience and restoration of the character setting. From wearing props to managing actions, every little detail can make the final photos more complete. Although we only shot in three different environments, I tried my best to keep the emotional expressions of each group non-repetitive. The relaxed state in the photos carries a very lifelike outdoor portrait feel. After the shoot was completed, looking at the photos on the screen, I felt that this refreshing blue-and-white color scheme combination is indeed perfect for outdoor shoots. It doesn't require very complex scenes; a single tree, a blue-green wall, and a few steps are enough to construct a very comfortable picture.
