This set of Tamamo no Mae cosplay costume really took a lot of thought in its details, especially the choice of blue and black color-blocking fabric. To restore that slightly glossy texture, I searched for fabrics for a long time. The wide detachable sleeves are the absolute highlight of the entire outfit, but shooting outdoors also really tested posing; as soon as a gust of wind blew, I had to quickly adjust my arm angles for fear that the fabric would slap against my face and ruin the frame.
The pair of large brown fluffy ears on top of the head and the pink twin tails—to fix them on the head for styling, a huge amount of hairspray and invisible bobby pins were used, and after shooting for a day, it felt like my scalp was protesting. However, seeing the three-dimensional and full effect of the ears in the final photos, it felt like everything was worth it. There is also the black choker around the neck and the golden gemstone in the center of the wide obi belt; although these small accessories are not bulky, they are definitely the key to enhancing accuracy and maxing out the texture in front of the lens.
For the eye makeup, I specially chose contact lenses leaning towards red-orange to create that otherworldly, non-human fox fairy feel, so the blending layers of eyeliner and eyeshadow were done relatively heavy. The base makeup kept it as fair and translucent as possible, paired with a highlight on the tip of the nose, making the facial contours appear more three-dimensional under natural light.
As a veteran player, when putting on this outfit, various voice lines automatically started looping in my mind. This is the famous Arts support, with 30% group battery charge, 5-turn CD, noble phantasm consecutive firing, and able to achieve double setup on Turn 3. Back then, to gather all these effects, Chaldea went through a lot of trouble. The title of the strongest Arts support and the gold content of "Fox's Wedding"—those who know, know. Putting on this outfit to cosplay, it felt as if I could truly provide the most solid buff support to the DPS in the team, just like those turnaround moments in posts.
This time, I chose to shoot in an outdoor commercial district, where natural light hit the royal blue clothes with high color saturation. The asymmetric high-slit design of the skirt hem just happens to reveal the lines of the dark over-the-knee socks, paired with the thick-soled geta on the feet, creating a slightly swaying charm when walking. Because of the high slit, I needed to constantly pay attention to the angles while taking pictures, showcasing the slender feel of the legs while maintaining a natural and non-stiff posture. There were actually quite a few passersby and background shops around the site, but fortunately, the camera work was well controlled, utilizing the lens blur to compress all the messy backgrounds, allowing the visual focus to concentrate entirely on the character's overall styling.
From the overall makeup and styling, wig maintenance to the placement of every gesture, everything was meant to fit the unique temperament of this character as closely as possible. Standing in the square trying out a few different angles of light, the final captured shots clearly displayed the black-and-white lines on the clothes, the white tassels under the skirt hem, and the golden piping at the edge of the sleeves. This state, carrying a bit of coolness yet some elegance, practically materialized the image in my heart. I hope this set of pictures allows everyone to feel that whether in the game or in front of the lens, it is equally dazzling.
