[Scathach cosplay] Fate/Grand Order Master Incentive Program: Recreating the Red Spirit Origin

This photo is a selfie I specifically took at the anime convention today, mainly wanting to share this Scathach cosplay look with everyone. The red wig presents a rich wine-red texture under indoor lighting, a color that really suits highlighting the character's cold and mysterious nature. To achieve a better effect, I deliberately trimmed and styled the bangs into a slightly fluffy, messy look, which, paired with the red contact lenses, instantly brought out a sharp focus in the eyes.

As for the outfit, this purple halter top is quite demanding on the shoulder and neck lines, but the cutout design in the middle and the black thin strap flower choker on the neck perfectly flatter the collarbone and neck, making them look more slender. I paired it with matching short purple gloves; the color contrast between red and purple creates rich visual layering. The fabric feels soft, skin-friendly, and breathable, allowing great freedom of movement around the venue.

Regarding makeup, I kept the foundation as matte, dry, and translucent as possible, considering conventions get crowded, warm, and sweaty. For the eye makeup, I used brick red and light red eyeshadow for soft smudging, paired with meticulously drawn black eyeliner and matte red lips, striving to recreate the character's distant yet naturally powerful aura. Lip color has a huge impact on overall temperament; applying it felt like an instant level-up for the cool factor.

Speaking of the incentive behind doing this look, it was because I saw the Master Incentive Program for the FGO 10th Anniversary of Fate/Grand Order. As a veteran Master who has played on and off for several years, being able to take part in this special project through cosplay felt deeply memorable. Although I mentioned in my post that I couldn't make it to the Fes in person and missed experiencing the passionate atmosphere of a large offline event, leaving a bit of regret in my heart, I was still super happy watching everyone's posts and thoughts from behind the screen over those few days.

Although I couldn't attend the Fes far away in reality, I took advantage of the weekend to drop by a local anime convention. Though the venue wasn't huge, fellow fans' enthusiasm was running high. What surprised and delighted me most today was trying out a mini-game at an arcade area outside the hall. I operated the machine four or five times; the first few attempts fell just short. Just as I thought my luck today was mediocre and prepared to give up, a bright red "WINNER!" prompt suddenly popped up on the screen! The momentary thrill was hard to describe, so I instantly took a picture of the screen with my phone to commemorate it. Later, I smoothly redeemed the souvenir from the staff, feeling like this little stroke of luck completely offset the regret of missing Fes.

Returning to character portrayal, Scathach inherently carries a strong queen-like aura. Therefore, regarding facial expression management, I couldn't look completely expressionless and unwelcoming, nor could I smile too brightly. I ultimately chose a slightly relaxed posture while keeping a focused gaze, facing the lens with a cool expression. This preserved the character's sense of detachment and sharpness while remaining accessible for photos with people at the convention.

In fact, every dedicated cosplay is a process of re-understanding a character from scratch. The wig needs trimming and shaping, costume fit requires repeated adjustments, and makeup must be fine-tuned according to lighting and color coordination. Although the preparation is quite tiring, the moment you put on the full gear and step into a real-world setting, that unique satisfaction of "bringing a beloved fictional character into reality" makes it all worthwhile.

I hope the selfie shared today gives everyone a taste of this look's charm. Although I couldn't go to the major convention, completing this photoshoot under the occasion of the FGO 10th Anniversary leaves a tangible mark on my gaming memories. Next, I'll likely look for an opportunity to visit an outdoor location with better lighting to shoot a story-driven photo set, striving to present this character's aura even more completely.
