This photoshoot excursion also involved climbing outdoor stone staircases in the storm; shivering step by step transformed this cherry blossom season into a full-on 'Sakura refugee' survival ordeal.
Yet the biting chill had its silver lining. Within the lore of Fate/stay night, Sakura Matou is a quiet, fragile girl who has endured immense suffering. Being physically frozen to the point of stiff limbs and slightly vacant, hollow gazes unexpectedly aligned with her somber, vulnerable persona. The white lace blouse paired with the large black ribbon sash, purple hair, and butterfly hairpins naturally carried a melancholic, cool-toned cinematic mood under the continuous overcast drizzle. Raindrops trickling down the clear umbrella and the blue butterfly prop held in hand provided atmospheric foreground elements that enriched the rainy day atmosphere.
With facial muscles twitching from the extreme cold, I adapted by using the butterfly to partially shield my face or simply closing my eyes.
