Doing a Cosplay location shoot really isn't as simple as just bringing a camera and props. People often ask me why my outdoor photos seem to have decent lighting and composition—in fact, there is a tremendous amount of meticulous preparation work behind the scenes.

If platforms don't provide clear answers to these questions, I put the location on a backup list first to avoid arriving only to find shooting prohibited—making a wasted trip ruins the mood. Another iron rule of an outdoor shoot is to act swiftly. After arriving on site, adjust based on actual conditions and arrange the shooting sequence in your head beforehand. Some scenic spots have strict rules about closing times and clearing crowds, so time shouldn't be wasted procrastinating. Especially when shooting challenging actions like horseback archery or lying prone by a pond for Fantasy-style cosplay, efficiency must be boosted to capture the most compelling state in a short timeframe.
Every time I go for an outdoor shoot, I repeatedly remind myself to shoot only in safe locations. No matter how breathtaking the final photo looks, safety always comes first. Never place yourself in danger just to chase a thrilling camera angle. Only by keeping yourself safe will you have the opportunity to produce great photos next time.
