[Corporate cosplay] Summer pure white at the Firefly ACG Expo: How is the accuracy of this swimsuit cosplay?

Taking advantage of the weekend at Firefly ACG Expo, I finally brought this summer swimsuit cosplay of Enterprise from Azur Lane to the event. The weather in Guangzhou that day was very hot and humid, but it happened to fit perfectly with this pure white, cool outfit.

To maximize the airy atmosphere, I kept the makeup light rather than heavy, mainly putting effort into the eyeshadow and lip makeup. Paired with a silver-white wig, the overall look came across as refreshing without appearing pale. The core of this look actually lies in some subtle details—for instance, the delicate waist chain. Though lightweight, it plays a great role in defining proportions, adding a touch of delicacy to the all-white swimsuit outfit.

The tulle shawl outer layer is the most prominent piece. Although it looks airy, the layered ruffles actually give it substantial volume. To make it look great while remaining easy to move around in at the expo, we specifically adjusted the elasticity of the cuffs to avoid messing up the neckline when raising hands. The gathered design on the white bikini top contours the lines nicely, while the ruffles on the skirt portion add a playful touch, offering a wonderful swaying effect when walking. The transparent block heels paired with it seem simple, but they actually flatter the leg shape very well, subtly showing skin tones under the booth lighting and looking visually lighter than pure white shoes.

The lighting at the venue was actually quite tricky to manage. The large spotlights at the booth hit the white outfit and easily caused overexposure, so we were constantly searching for angles while shooting. The glass-holding pose in the first photo was intended to create a casual, lifelike vibe—as if I weren't visiting an anime expo, but actually vacationing at the seaside. The composition of the second photo really tested the waistline; turning sideways with hands on hips happened to showcase the back design of this swimsuit, with the waist chain glittering subtly in the light. The third picture is a more straightforward full-look shot, clearly showing the front-to-back proportions of the entire outfit, as well as the layering and thickness of the silver-white wig.

I have to admit that the foot traffic at the convention was huge. To ensure high-quality shots, every shoot required quick adjustments in positioning and posture to avoid cluttered aisles and passersby in the background. Although we only shot a few sets, the whole process was quite physically exhausting. Fortunately, this outfit has good breathability, especially the tulle part, which felt super comfortable when the breeze blew through. The white palette looked exceptionally crisp against the blue background of the booth, and during a break, several photographers even praised the pairing of the wig and makeup.

I suppose this is the joy of anime expos—bringing 2D game art into the 3D world. Even if certain details might not reach 100% precision, achieving 70% or 80% similarity in personal presence and costume texture brings an immense sense of accomplishment. As the daytime light gradually turned golden, we also tried taking a few shots using fill lights of different colors, discovering that this white swimsuit is very responsive to color tones, presenting completely different atmospheres under warm versus cool lighting.

When wrapping up, I was actually a bit reluctant to take off the makeup. Although wearing a wig all day was a bit stuffy, I met so many fellow fans at the booth today who were super appreciative of this look. As someone who enjoys personally fine-tuning costume details, hearing compliments on-site made me really happy. I usually rarely wear such revealing outfits, but gathering the courage to try it for the sake of the character was quite a novel experience. Looking through these photos while sorting them out, I feel all the sweat that day wasn't in vain, and recording these frozen moments was truly worth it.
