Preparing the Christmas-themed Camellya cosplay costume for this shoot took quite a bit of time. In terms of coordination, the red velvet paired with white fur trimming felt fantastic, and with the white lace stockings and thigh rings, the whole look perfectly aligned with the winter Christmas atmosphere. Since Christmas-themed makeup possesses its own unique glamour, the layers of eye makeup and eyeshadow had to be distinct to project the character's cool elegance before the lens. Throughout the shoot, I needed to constantly steady my breathing; although this dress was designed to be lightweight, showcasing leg lines required holding many poses for extended durations. For instance, the standing pose lifting one leg in Photo 6 actually relied on the adjacent wall to maintain balance. The photographer guided me to imagine touching snowflakes in winter to capture a focused, vibrant gaze.
The entire process was quite physically demanding. Large areas of red backdrop and green Christmas trees relied on lighting to create depth; white fur tends to absorb light easily, so adjusting light and shadow for every shot required continuous fine-tuning. I also discussed the reflective properties of red velvet on camera with the photographer, eventually deciding to capture it with a subtle, luminous sheen. This photo set presents my unique interpretation of fusing Camellya with a Christmas theme—beyond the leg-revealing design, the red chest bow and Christmas gift box props also enhanced the character's 2D traits. Looking at the final photos, the atmosphere truly comes through; of course, this wasn't achieved by simply piling up props, but through the mutual harmony of costume design, expression management, and scene decoration.
On the day of the shoot, I invested a lot of effort into hair and makeup. The wig styling took a long time, and the layering of the wig played a crucial role in framing facial contours. Every blink or breath could affect the shot, but fortunately, the photographer captured the moments with great precision. This shooting experience gave me a fresh perspective on photographing characters with specific holiday themes; sharing this red-and-white Christmas look, I hope to showcase a different festive feel in the winter. For displaying leg lines, pairing thigh-highs with thigh rings was key: when zooming in, the texture of the white lace reflected light beautifully, giving the legs more dimension. While shooting lying down on the red carpet, I had to be careful not to let elbows and shoulders create awkward wrinkles, making angle adjustments quite painstaking. We also studied the placement of Christmas wreaths and gift boxes to enrich the spatial depth. The predominantly red environment placed high demands on skin tone rendering, so the base makeup couldn't be too heavy—it had to be translucent. As the shutter clicked, the character's emotions naturally flowed out. This was not just a roleplay, but a creative journey filled with details. I thoroughly adore the festive holiday ambiance presented in the end.
