Kirara's costume design in Genshin Impact is packed with intricate details—from the blue, white, and gold tiered skirt hem, to the golden bow at the waist, and the fluffy Animal ears perched atop the head, every single accessory brings a delightful surprise. For this shoot, we set up a simple backdrop indoors; since there was a hiccup with an artwork project, I decided to dig out and organize my previous cosplay photos.
The absolute highlights of this outfit are the cat paw pad prop in hand and the oversized furry paw boots on the feet. The cat paw pad feels amazing to squeeze—soft and squishy—serving as a fantastic stress reliever during the shoot. While the paw covers on my feet are undeniably cute, crouching, sitting, and standing poses were far from easy, especially the kneeling pose in the third photo, which required careful center-of-gravity control to avoid toppling over. The costume's fabric is fairly form-fitting, and paired with the midriff-baring cut, I had to stay conscious of keeping my core engaged and posture upright throughout.
The day before shooting, I spent considerable time styling the ponytail and Animal ears; the hair color harmonizes beautifully with the blue and gold palette of the costume. To showcase the outfit, I tried standing, crouching, and kneeling poses. The third shot, kneeling directly facing the camera, best highlights the waistline and layered skirt while offering a balanced, centered composition, making it the natural choice for the cover. The session took quite a while; because of the voluminous wide sleeves, they often brushed against my face or props when posing, leaving minor background imperfections to be gently touched up in post-processing.
The green gemstones and gold tassel accents are exquisitely detailed. Although putting everything on was a bit tedious, the final visual effect is stunning. We utilized soft lighting indoors as much as possible to faithfully recreate the fabric's authentic texture. Embodying a Cat girl persona, my movements tried to mimic the agility of a cat, conveying a soft and cuddly vibe through body language. This set aims to spotlight the costume's cute, airy lightness alongside the character's signature energetic charm. In person under normal lighting, the colors pop even brighter than in the photos—crisp, refreshing, and incredibly photogenic. If you enjoy this kind of detailed breakdown of character costumes, I will try to film more behind-the-scenes footage in future shoots to document the props and outfit structures. This share mainly focuses on accuracy and the wearing experience, hoping to give a comprehensive look at the charm of this 2D character's attire.
