[Kafka cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail — Remember the Feeling of Being Able to Breathe

The final set of photos for this Kafka cosplay is finally ready! From deciding to cosplay this character to selecting the location, and then gathering a thick stack of reference images to refine every detail, I was deeply invested throughout the entire process.

When initially finalizing this look, the reddish-brown short wig required the most effort. To make the curve of the bangs and the strands along the cheeks better fit Kafka's crisp, neat feel from the in-game splash art, I spent a long time adjusting it in front of the mirror before heading out, personally trimming the layers. The round-frame sunglasses resting on top of the head serve as the soul prop—the moment I put them on, the overall aura shifted instantly, bringing out that effortlessly commanding pressure right away.

Regarding Anime-style fashion layering, I paid special attention to depth. The inner layer features a white mandarin collar shirt with geometric seam lines, topped with a black long vest; the leather material produces a natural reflection under the camera lens. Crossed black leather straps on the chest feature gold metal buckles, accented by a delicate pink lanyard. For the belt section, I added a large gold buckle myself, and the bright pink fabric ornament hanging from the side breaks up the monochrome dullness, making the visuals much more vibrant. The lower body consists of high-waisted black leather shorts paired with semi-sheer black stockings. Pink thigh straps accented with gold triangular metal rivets add fantastic visual layering to the leg line. On my feet are knee-high boots, whose white line design solidifies the visual center of gravity for the lower half.

The hand props were also meticulous—the vibrant pink gloves have fantastic texture, featuring white grid lines on the back. I originally worried this bright color would clash with the deep tone of the leather jacket, but it unexpectedly turned into a highlight during the shoot. When holding the gun, the cold, sleek industrial texture of the firearm created a striking, tense contrast against the elastic fabric of the gloves. We practiced the gun-holding poses for a long time to balance the sense of speed when drawing the weapon with the character's unhurried, composure-filled elegance.

The set on the day of the shoot was an industrial wasteland style space filled with chicken wire, yellow caution tape, stacked red-and-white chemical drums, and scrap tires. The lighting utilized a highly cyberpunk blue-purple neon light. The reddish-purple light hitting the wig, sunglasses, and leather jacket presented a mottled, psychedelic texture, taking the atmospheric vibe of the entire photo set to the max. I especially love the feel in Photo 2 where I sit on a red industrial oil drum; with caution tape stretching before me, it naturally exudes hunter-like confidence without needing forced posing in this Cosplay photography session.

During the shoot, the photographer guided my movements, reminding me that Kafka's charm lies not just in her combat power, but in her relaxed air of being in complete control at all times. So I intentionally captured moments like glancing up, gently running a finger along the gun barrel, and casually playing with a stack of banknotes. She isn't a tense assassin, but a master who treats danger like a game.

When the final photos came out, especially that set holding up the white pistol amidst neon lights and shadows, I was extremely satisfied. Doing this Honkai: Star Rail cosplay allowed me to genuinely experience the thrilling life of an outsider on the edge of a cyberpunk metropolis, while finding my own rhythm within the framework of the set. Just looking at these photos brings back the magical feeling of shuttling between plastic drums and wire meshes that day. I hope this captured moment conveys her signature composure and charm, allowing friends who love this character as much as I do to feel a real moment under the stars of Honkai: Star Rail.
