[Kal'tsit cosplay] Tech Vibe and Rhode Island Memories Before the CP32 Booth

Standing in front of the CP32 booth, the background's large screen emitting a tech-inspired blue light alongside the control panel covered in "PASS CODE" and "IDENTIFICATION" labels provided a magnificent stage for this Arknights Kal'tsit Cyber techwear style outfit.

Many seeing the live photos might feel the background is slightly out of character. Indeed, the big screen behind displays "OVERWATCH," which is not Rhode Island's landship. However, as a large-scale fan convention, CP32 Anime Convention often curiously blends classic elements from different works together. This cross-franchise collision of scenes actually offers cosplay a distinct quality compared to plain studio shoots. I personally really enjoy using on-site light, shadow, and real environments to construct character aura, making figures appear more three-dimensional.

In recreating Kal'tsit's look this time, I focused on selecting this techwear jacket featuring large silver-white paneling. The collar and shoulders retained relatively sharp tailoring lines, which, combined with metallic-textured small hardware on the shoulders, allowed the overall styling to reflect rich, layered light and shadow under booth lighting. The green crisscross strapped midriff-baring top inside heavily tested body shape; fortunately, having controlled my diet days in advance, I was quite satisfied with the waistline definition, which, together with the stand-up collar design, looked powerful before the camera. The lower body was paired with high-waisted black techwear shorts and metal rings, plus silver metallic belts and straps dangling from the waist side, effectively elongating visual body proportions.

For white hair styling, I opted for natural layered trimming without excessive fluffiness, fitting her inherent dry, cool, and dignified character background better. The animal ears atop the head were fully hand-adjusted and fixed sturdily without shifting during body tilts in shooting—such details often determine if photos withstand close inspection. During candid captures, the metallic reflective jacket proved extremely photogenic, especially under the faint yellow circuit indicator lights of the front control panel, where silver fabric reflected soft ambient light, adding deeper narrative depth to the entire set.

Being surrounded by so many fellow enthusiasts at the convention venue indeed elevates one's state. Although moving around in this stiff attire and corset was somewhat stuffy, because the booth position was relatively independent and uncrowded, I had ample space to adjust poses and demeanor. For Kal'tsit in Arknights, I understand her not only as a calm medical advisor, but as possessing an imposing, naturally authoritative presence. Thus, when facing the lens, I intentionally lowered my eyes and kept my gaze blank, striving to project that composed omniscience. The black communicator prop in hand also played a crucial role—it transformed the frame from a mere portrait showcase into something resembling a secret mission or communication command execution, enhancing situational immersion.

Special thanks to the photographers at CP32 Anime Convention for capturing images that highlighted the character while preserving ambient atmosphere amid complex lighting and exhibition setups, without letting venue clutter disrupt character quality or outfit details in this Cosplay photography session. Preparing for this role took a while, but seeing the finished renders live at the convention makes all sweat feel entirely worthwhile. Enjoying this process of bringing 2D characters into 3D reality is where my purest joy in cosplay resides.
