[Youmu Konpaku cosplay] Touhou Project's Path of Training: White Tights and Neo-Chinese Style Match So Well

Today's Touhou Project Youmu Konpaku cosplay photoshoot ended, leaving me completely exhausted in the studio as if I'd been through military training. Indeed, every time I shoot in an outfit with huge sleeves and complex layers, it takes a heavy toll. But seeing the raw photos on the monitor, most of that fatigue instantly melted away.

Since I decided to do a Youmu Konpaku cosplay, I had to go all out on the outfit's details. This costume is truly meticulous: the dark green base is covered with golden cloud and water patterns, the collar features classic black Chinese frog buttons, and the white crescent patch on the chest perfectly reproduces the character design element. Overall, it's an exquisite Neo-Chinese style outfit.

Speaking of fabric, the large areas of white jacquard material look fantastic under the camera lens. Wide outer sleeves and layered skirts paired with white over-the-knee socks maintain the lightness of Touhou Project characters while introducing real-life flowiness and structural layering. Of course, as stunning as this outfit looks, putting it on and wearing it is quite a struggle—especially constantly adjusting the wide sleeves and making sure my hair doesn't flatten the bow embellishment at the back.

Many people might be curious about the dark photos mentioned in the post, which is actually the monitor screen in picture three. Aside from the standard bright studio lighting, we specifically tried an atmospheric low-light shoot this time, adding contrasting blue and red neon lights to the set. This dark and mysterious lighting style, paired with Youmu Konpaku's green and white outfit, creates a striking visual contrast. Once post-production retouches are complete, I believe the cool, mysterious final results will be truly stunning.

Speaking of Youmu Konpaku, as the gardener of Hakugyokurou, she has always possessed a hardworking yet slightly airheaded nature. During today's shoot, I tried to embody her cool, dashing side as a swordsman through my poses. Shooting continuously for hours with a hundred pose changes while keeping an eye on the white tights and skirt layers was tough. Though I got completely worn out today, being able to personally recreate this character and experiment with light, shadow, and composition brings the ultimate satisfaction as a cosplayer. I've organized some raw photos and phone behind-the-scenes shots today; the official retouched preview and final photos will take a few more days, so I'll share them gradually.
