This shoot had been in planning for a long time, primarily driven by the desire to capture Alisaie's presence in a sea of sunflowers. To match this sunlit, lively ambiance, the wardrobe centered on a classic gray-and-white ruffled dress with flutter sleeves, where the black bow at the collar serves as the visual anchor. For the wig, I specifically chose a matte-textured short white style, textured with artfully messy layers at the ends; the iconic ahoge cowlick at the crown took plenty of hairspray to sculpt, ensuring it held its shape even in outdoor breezes.
The makeup prioritized an airy, translucent eye look, featuring vivid blue contact lenses and a dewy, natural base. To counter harsh outdoor daylight, an expansive wash of peachy-pink blush was swept across the eye area and cheeks for vitality, paired with a glossy peachy-pink lip tint. This makeup looks gorgeous under natural light and creates a harmonious chromatic dialogue with the golden sunflowers in the background.
A sunflower field offers a spectacular backdrop, yet shooting on-location brings noticeable challenges. The sunshine in the flower fields is intense; to prevent harsh overhead lighting from casting unflattering facial shadows, we began shooting after 4:30 PM. Because an expansive sea of yellow blooms can easily overwhelm the composition, we used a wide aperture throughout, turning foreground sunflowers into natural, soft bokeh to create an enveloping frame that locks all visual attention onto the subject.
In terms of posing direction, to channel Alisaie's blend of spunky charm and resilience, I explored poses like cupping my face with both hands or gently grazing the blossoms, keeping my gaze bright and clear. The skirt features a multi-tiered tiered-ruffle cake design edged with gray-black stripes; amidst the flower stalks, we had to carefully arrange each fold to maintain a crisp, voluminous texture. Although the shoot was scorching hot and demanded vigilance against mosquito bites, seeing the striking visual clash between the white short hair and the golden sunflower field made every ounce of effort worthwhile. Every photo here is infused with genuine love for the character, and I hope everyone can feel this limited summer vitality.
