Choosing to shoot this Yat Sen cosplay look from Azur Lane in a tea plantation during the misty rain season was initially inspired by the poetic line "The azure sky awaits the misty rain." Arriving on location, low-hanging clouds and mountains shrouded in mist created a moist, cool ambiance that brought a vitality no artificial studio shoot could ever match.
The color scheme of this outfit carries a distinct spring freshness, featuring a white base accented with sweeping emerald green piping and cascading water-sleeves, creating a harmonious color resonance with the sprawling tea fields. I specially added white floral hairpins to the side to give the overall look a more graceful flair. A gentle drizzle fell throughout the shoot, and while taking shelter under the wooden eaves, we accidentally captured these two wonderfully natural, candid shots.
Photo 1 was taken on the outer corridor, where the dark wooden cottage and distant hazy skyline created striking visual depth; extending my hand, originally intended to catch raindrops, made the posture feel relaxed and graceful. Photo 2 moved inside the wooden cabin, where the rain-soaked dark treated-wood floor cast a soft, natural reflection. Sitting barefoot on the floor with the dress draping naturally around me, complemented by the tea set prepared on the table, instantly evoked the serene tranquility of a traditional tea room.
Because of the rain that day, the ambient light was softly diffused, making it ideal for capturing natural skin tones and garment textures. To prevent the wig from getting soaked, I had to do quick touch-ups with a blow-dryer after every few shots. Though a bit demanding, hearing the crisp pitter-patter of rain on the wooden eaves paired with the wind sweeping through the open tea plantation made this Tea plantation photography experience truly unique.
Placing such a gentle, elegant character into an authentic natural setting breathes far more life into Ancient style on-location photography than an indoor studio ever could. It transcends mere posing, creating a living interaction between costume and landscape. Low-angle framing naturally elongated the leg lines, while the relaxed body language perfectly captured the calm, poised elegance inherent to Yat Sen. I personally love blending 2D character designs with realistic misty rainscapes.
