The details of this Cartethyia Cosplay costume were executed impeccably. The top features a black-and-white color-blocked design, with fabric casting a subtle pearlescent sheen under studio lights, and the golden embroidery along the white sections flows smoothly without clutter. Since the outfit is cropped, the waist cutouts and black strappy lacing demand a well-toned figure; prior to shooting, I paid special attention to posture control, keeping my core engaged to ensure crisp, clean lines on camera.
The long sheer ribbons serve as the visual centerpiece of this look, cascading from the shoulders past the knees in clear, translucent blue-and-white gradient hues. To achieve both natural drape and a soft billowing effect on camera, we experimented with different pin placements, finally finding that securing them at the shoulders and wrists worked best during turning movements without feeling cumbersome.
The long straight blonde hair paired with elf ears embodies the very soul of the character. The wig was treated with a curling wand beforehand to add gentle curves, allowing it to fall naturally with volume without sticking flat to the scalp. The elf ears were custom-made from soft silicone, requiring scar wax along the edges to blend seamlessly with my skin tone, as close-ups would otherwise expose the seams. Complemented by the silver star headpiece across my forehead, the overall look exuded an exotic, cool-toned aura fitting for an Elf saint in Anime cosplay.
The set featured an arched backdrop carved with filigree patterns, flanked by blue-and-white hydrangeas and broad navy drapes—elements harmonizing flawlessly with Cartethyia's color palette. During the shoot, I wielded a transparent sword prop featuring a golden hilt and a semi-translucent blade that created delicate refractions under the lights. The grip couldn't be stiff: with wrists relaxed and gaze serene, I strove to channel the cool, composed poise of the saint.
Lighting that day relied primarily on cool white light, paired with the blue drapes overhead to craft a dreamlike ambiance reminiscent of the deep sea or a starry sky. In several standing shots, lifting my wrist and angling my body slightly flattered the garment's tailoring and leg lines, highlighting a slender silhouette. For the shot kneeling on one knee with the sword, shifting my weight to the back leg with the front leg slightly angled while the sword stood perpendicular to the floor allowed light and shadow to contour my silhouette dramatically.
Throughout the shoot, the combination of this gradient sheer dress and accessories proved exceptionally photogenic and expressive. From steaming and prepping the costume to constructing the set, every step required meticulous planning.
