[Shimoe Koharu cosplay] Spring cherry blossoms of Blue Archive, an imprint belonging to this season

As Shimoe Koharu from Blue Archive, I took advantage of the full cherry blossom bloom to shoot an outdoor set this time. To leave an imprint belonging to this season in springtime, I specially chose this cherry blossom grove as our location for a Cherry blossom outdoor scene.

This time, I prepared Shimoe Koharu's classic uniform style. Looking at the overall styling, the pinkish-white twin-tail wig combined with red contact lenses draws focused attention to the eyes. The parts where I put in the most effort were the halo prop atop my head and the black feathered wings on my back. I crafted the halo using lightweight materials to ensure it stayed securely atop my head during shooting without weighing down the hair. For the wings, I combined EVA foam of varying hardnesses to express the layered depth and thickness of feathers, so when turning sideways or rotating, the wings wouldn't look stiff or rigid.

Regarding outfit details, the black jacket paired with an off-the-shoulder white top, along with a pink bow tie and contrasting stripes on the cuffs, creates rich visual layering. The red pleated skirt combined with white over-the-knee socks and black leather shoes gives an overall impression blending academic atmosphere with fantasy elements.

The light on shooting day was remarkably soft, and the cherry blossoms were in full peak bloom. We shot several standing and sitting poses under the trees, with cherry blossom petals occasionally drifting onto my shoulders. When shooting the standing pose reaching out a hand, I wanted to heighten the scene's interactive feel, making viewers in front of the lens feel invited into the scene. For another set sitting on the stone steps flipping through an old book, I deliberately cradled the prop book to find the right mood, trying to capture a sense of composure peculiar to the character. For the half-body close-ups, by adjusting hand positioning and gaze angle, I aimed to recreate Shimoe Koharu's signature demeanor—a blend of slight earnestness and playful tsundere charm.

I've shot sets in various styles before, but outdoor location shooting is heavily influenced by weather and lighting. Without good natural light, the shadows of the wings tend to blur into the main subject. Fortunately, the lighting in the cherry blossom grove that day effectively outlined the edges of the black wings, preserving the character's mysterious vibe without causing the subject to collapse into a dark blob. The photographer used a large-aperture lens, beautifully blurring the background cherry blossom trees into soft, pink light bokeh spots, highlighting the subject while cultivating a dreamy spring atmosphere for Cosplay photography.

As for Shimoe Koharu's personality, I've always felt she possesses a unique multifaceted nature. This versatility can be reflected in photos through subtle movements, such as resting a chin lightly on a hand in contemplation or casting a slight side glance. Though minor body language, it's enough to make the image vivid and engaging. To bring the character fully to life, I also habitually review character settings and story scenes prior to shoots, leveraging these details to guide my state during shooting.

I invested significant effort into fine details for this cosplay look, including how to style the wig for a fluffy yet non-flat silhouette, as well as adjusting wrinkles on the white over-the-knee socks. Paired with soft peach eye shadow, the overall aesthetic appears even gentler.

Looking at the raw shots after the shoot, I felt this spring's cherry blossoms and this outfit matched seamlessly—not just in color harmony, but more importantly in mood and atmosphere. I hope this photo set delivers a relaxed, cheerful spring viewing experience. Every outdoor location shoot is a concrete expression of the character, and I will continue refining my props, makeup, and styling to present an even more perfect execution next time.
