[Vivian Cosplay] The Elegance and Mystery of Zenless Zone Zero, Restoring the Follower of Phaethon Under the Lens

The teaser version posted previously needed some reorganization for certain reasons, so this time I changed to a set of filter colors that better fit the overall aesthetic, resharing this collection of photos accumulated during the studio shoot for the Shenzhen convention photos portfolio. It just happens to echo that 'mysterious repost' mentioned in the post, and I also wanted to present this work in a more complete manner. As the cosplayer of Vivian in Zenless Zone Zero, I spent a lot of thought when preparing this work, hoping to restore the character's own elegance and sense of mystery as much as possible. There is a kind of cold detachment in Vivian that keeps her outside the crowd, yet there is also a heartfelt, steadfast following of Phaethon. This tension is highly attractive to me, which is why the tone of this photo set leans toward a gentle yet sharp, dreamlike atmosphere.

In terms of costume and styling, this time I selected a white ruffled shirt paired with a dark-colored skirt and a corset design; these classic anime fantasy elements beautifully establish the visual foundation. The long, pointed elf ears are one of the character's signature elements, which, paired with the light-colored long hair styling, can quickly capture the visual focus. For the lower half, I chose black tights paired with purple thick-soled high-heeled leather shoes. This combination of material and color not only elongates the leg lines but also preserves the soft texture of the overall look. The metal buckles on the purple shoe vamps add a touch of vintage refinement, making the entire look sufficiently enduring in its details. The dark umbrella opened in my hand, adorned with pink petal patterns, serves as both the visual center and an important atmospheric prop, perfectly echoing the large area of fresh flower elements in the scene so that the visual focus doesn't become too scattered.

Regarding the set design, the photographer and I spent a considerable amount of time building it in advance in the Shenzhen studio. We chose white gauze curtains and lace drapes as the main background, supplemented by a large number of pink and white daisies and simulated bouquets, intending to construct a scene akin to a wonderland. The white vintage vanity with a half-body mirror on the right and the hollow flower pot stand on the left add layers to the space. The white metal birdcage and glass dome decorations on the floor add a touch of serene storytelling to the entire frame. To complement this dreamlike tone, the photography team specially adjusted the lighting layout on-site, controlling the main light on a warm white base while introducing a large amount of purple-pink diffuse reflection light. This color overlay makes the skin look more translucent and fair, and it softens the texture of the costume fabric. During the shoot, we needed to constantly adjust the position of the chair according to the refraction angle of the light to ensure that the facial contours of the figure could receive light evenly, which is essential for capturing clean skin texture and clear facial features.

Controlling the photography emotions is actually a very meticulous process. The character of Vivian usually gives off a tranquil and noble feeling; in front of the lens, there is no need for too many exaggerated expressions, but rather conveying inner emotions through glances and body movements. I chose to sit on a small white stool, holding the umbrella in one hand and slightly raising the other hand close to my cheek. This movement looks visually very relaxed, yet carries a sliver of mysterious protectiveness. Looking above the camera instead of making direct eye contact fits better with the character's temperament of drifting outside of reality. The photographer also repeatedly reminded me to keep my back, neck, and shoulders extended; an elegant posture often lies not in the posture itself, but in that sense of relaxed confidence. Although the pairing of stockings and high heels requires maintaining beautiful leg shapes and standing postures throughout, because the atmosphere of the scene was simply too comfortable, I forgot about these external constraints once I immersed myself in the shoot.

The theme of this set of photos is very simple: a sincere tribute to the character Vivian. As a follower of Phaethon, Vivian's sense of conviction is a very intriguing part to ponder. As a cosplayer, I have also been thinking about how to convey the character's dynamic emotions through static frames like photos. It's not just about putting on these clothes, but becoming her, understanding what she is thinking, and knowing what state she should be in when facing the lens. The anime atmosphere in Shenzhen has always been great, which allows me to always meet many like-minded friends when doing outdoor shoots or studio shoots. Although the studio this time might not be considered large, the creation of the scene, the use of lighting, and the matching of costumes were all done with our utmost effort to achieve the best result in this Anime-style photography piece.
