[Keqing cosplay] Ancient Rhythm under the Moonlight and Faint Light Beneath the Umbrella, Recreating the Wind of Liyue

This photoshoot explored a combined scene leaning toward nighttime and indoor traditional Chinese style, and coordinating with the photographer made the overall feel very smooth. The core of this entire concept wasn't just a simple studio shoot, but rather aiming to visually display both an elegant, tranquil side and a dynamic nighttime agility. From the warm indoor tones of the first image to the cool blue moonlight shifted to the outdoor rooftop later, the overall color transition was fascinating.

For this styling, a lot of thought went into makeup and wig preparations. The character's hair features are distinct; the two small hair buns on top not only needed to be fixed naturally and playfully, but also coordinated with long twin tails on both sides, along with deep blue hair ribbons and pearl decorations. When wearing hair ornaments, attention must be paid to how well they blend with the wig itself, otherwise it easily looks cluttered. The wig adopted a light purple gradient, which requires some patience for daily maintenance; before styling, a crimping iron was used to handle the volume at the roots, ensuring the overall silhouette wouldn't collapse even in the somewhat muggy shooting environment. Makeup leaned toward a clean and refreshing texture. To match the black-purple attire, the eyeshadow was chosen as a cool-toned deep gray-purple, with eyeliner slightly elongated to make the gaze look more focused and sharp. The lip color chose a soft bean paste tone to avoid stealing the visual focus from the clothing itself.

The clothing design has rich layering. The off-the-shoulder black top with glitter fabric is very sensitive to light in actual shooting, showing subtle starlight-like sparkles under warm light while appearing deep and matte under cool light. The black feather-like bow collar around the neckline needed its flat shape adjusted properly to look natural without blocking the chin contour. The purple-blue spliced sleeve covers on the arms looked very spirited, especially the golden star and butterfly decorations on the binding parts, adding plenty of highlights to the arm lines. The skirt part used a gradient of black, blue, and purple, bringing wonderful flowing dynamics when moving during photoshoots. In addition, the white line-draft style patterns on the legs required adjusting angles when fitting onto leggings to ensure they wouldn't distort whether standing or sitting.

Props are the soul of the entire shooting atmosphere. The white oiled-paper umbrella opened in the first photo has a frame made of bamboo and wood, full of texture. Holding the umbrella with one hand during shooting not only tests arm strength, but also emphasizes the inclination angle of the umbrella surface and the direction of light passing through, which is essential to capture the ideal light-and-shadow layers. In the second photo, holding a long pen through this detail prop helped shape a composed posture of holding a pen. The third one, sitting and lying down on the rooftop, featured a flat blue-and-gold prop (resembling a scabbard or magic artifact) on the ground that became a great foreground accent. Using gestures and props instead of lines and emotions to form a silent interaction with the camera is also a very charming part of Roleplay photography.

The location span for this shoot was relatively large. The first half took place in a traditional Chinese indoor setting; the calligraphy on the background wall, wooden lanterns, carved screens, and warm yellow ambient light instantly gave the entire frame temperature. When shooting the second close-up, I adjusted to a semi-seated posture, with light hitting from the side, which nicely outlined the body contours and gave a great textural contrast between the black clothes and skin. The second half shifted to an outdoor blue-tiled rooftop. The weather that night was exceptionally good, with a full moon hanging high in the distance, matched by dense branches of golden flowers in the background, creating a stark visual conflict of interweaving warmth and coldness. Sitting on the rooftop was quite a test; although anti-slip measures were applied, wearing high heels still required constant attention to force-bearing points, though smooth coordination with the photographer quickly found the best composition position.

Looking back at this set of photos, the biggest realization is that every styling needs an environment fitting its temperament as a foundation. Whether it's other styles tried previously or this look leaning toward dark and ancient elements, exquisite lighting and thoughtful scene arrangements can give works more vitality.
