[Sangonomiya Kokomi Cosplay] Personal Lolita Design: A Sweet Dream of Pale Blue and Peach Pink

I've actually been preparing this Personal Lolita Design for quite a while. The moment I received the finished outfit, I felt it matched Kokomi's gentle aura surprisingly well, so I decided to do a casual-style photoshoot. The overall color scheme features low-saturation pale water blue and cream white, accented with soft peach pink, aiming to recreate the soft, clear texture of the Hydro element as much as possible. The dress features a multi-layered fluffy tier skirt, using alternating panels of semi-transparent striped fabric and solid-color material to create a light, layered effect as I move. The large bow at the neckline and the golden bell in the center serve as visual focal points, paired with a matching choker and wrist cuffs, while the heart-shaped pocket decorations add an extra touch of cuteness.

For the shoot, I chose the corridor area of an indoor anime exhibition. The cold lighting casting down on the terrazzo floor beautifully complemented the light blue and pink tones of the dress, making the colors look exceptionally clean and translucent. The wig features a gradient that transitions from peach pink at the crown to ice blue at the ends, aligning perfectly with the dress's color palette. With the blue ribbon bows attached on both sides, I was highly satisfied with how complete the overall look turned out.

Regarding the styling details of this personal design, the size of the hair accessories and the fluffiness of the skirt were adjusted multiple times. In Lolita fashion, if the skirt is not properly supported by a petticoat, it can easily look deflated or make the overall silhouette look unbalanced. For the photoshoot, I paired the dress with white knee-high socks and light blue Mary Jane shoes; the small bows on the sock cuffs and the metal buckles on the shoes beautifully echoed the decorative elements of the outfit. This style, which carries a subtle maid-like flair, actually creates a lovely gap moe with Kokomi's gentle yet serious personality.

This attempt wasn't meant to be a strictly canon-compliant Kokomi cosplay, but rather a creative reinterpretation based on the character's unique aesthetic. Instead of forcefully recreating her in-game weapons and iconic armor, I used a Lolita dress to express the purity of water and the soft-yet-firm nature of her role as a strategist. Many fellow fans at the venue asked about the dress structure. In truth, the petticoat is the key—I chose a heavy-duty organza petticoat to ensure the pleats of the outer skirt flared out evenly.

To capture the natural movement of the skirt while shooting, I spun around quite a few times. The action shot where I'm reaching out toward the camera was captured in motion; though the focus is slightly soft, it actually makes the dreamy atmosphere feel more natural. I also intentionally chose a cross-legged sitting pose on a high stool, which perfectly showcases the coordination of the socks and shoes while keeping the overall posture relaxed.

Overall, it was an incredibly fun shooting experience. Being able to focus on presenting a personal character design amidst the bustling environment of a convention is one of the true joys of cosplay. It's not about achieving 100% canon accuracy, but about interpreting a character in a style you love. This Personal Lolita Design serves as a unique, alternative tribute to Kokomi.
