The theme of this shoot aimed directly at Kotori Toyomi cosplay, a character I had long wanted to challenge; recreating this Cheerleader outfit was the core focus for Guangzhou Blue Archive ONLY 4.0.
The costume design is strikingly vibrant: the top is a white halter crop top featuring a shirt-like white collar and blue buckle accents at the neckline, with a neck lanyard holding a yellow ID badge that echoes the angular yellow-and-black headpiece atop my head. The bottom is a pleated skirt color-blocked in blue, white, and yellow that creates a clean waistline, while the plaid strap around the thigh adds fantastic visual depth to the overall look. I particularly love the pairing of white platform shoes with slouchy white socks, which visually elongates leg proportions and radiates authentic athletic stadium energy.
The two orange-and-white sparkly pom-poms in my hands were the absolute finishing touch—under the combined effect of natural light and flashes, the tinsel refracted gorgeous glittering highlights with just the right physical weight in hand. The ambient lighting at the Cosplay scene was genuinely great; the polished marble floor reflected delicate light and shadows, and the photographer used a white plush rug to frame several seated compositions, enhancing the overall texture of the imagery.
For these Convention photos, I explored standing, sitting, and single-knee kneeling poses. As seen in the shots, especially the one sitting on the rug resting my chin on one hand, the shift in center of gravity, the positioning of the hands and pom-poms, and the eye contact all make this cheerleader persona feel multidimensional and endearing. Additionally, looking back over the shoulder, holding pom-poms in cheering poses, and striking dynamic single-leg stances were all aimed at conveying confident, sunny charisma before the camera. When cosplaying such an energetic character, emotional immersion happens instantly—slipping into this outfit and holding the pom-poms genuinely made me feel ready to cheer on the team.
The Guangzhou Blue Archive ONLY event was organized exceptionally well; the venue was spacious enough to avoid cluttered crowd backgrounds, populated by many photographers with professional gear. This was also my first collaboration with the photographer, who captured very natural perspectives with precise guidance for poses and expressions. The styling itself is instantly recognizable, not just for the refreshing colors, but because Kotori's bright gaze and smile project an irresistible radiant warmth. The physical texture of the props and the costume's tailoring translated beautifully on camera. Every time I gripped the pom-poms or knelt on one knee to accentuate body contours, I felt how accommodating this Cheerleader outfit is—looking photogenic from virtually any angle. This series of Convention photos documented a truly delightful shoot, giving me an even deeper appreciation of the Blue Archive universe and its cast. I love sporty cosplay outfits because they don't restrict movement like heavy, elaborate gowns, allowing me to freely express youthful vitality. Throughout the session, I ensured every movement was relaxed and expansive, letting this boundless energy shine through the lens to everyone viewing these photos.
