[Mare cosplay] Overlord: The Quiet Elf in the Forest

Dressing up as Mare from Overlord this time, my biggest feeling was the regret of not finding a suitable twin partner; cosplaying solo indeed feels a bit lonely. To make up for this vacancy, I decided to max out the details on props and the scene. The wig was trimmed into layered blonde short hair, and the elf ears were made of custom soft rubber material with a high fit, not falling off even after a full day of shooting. For the clothing, a blue-and-white color-blocked coat was paired with a cyan-green shawl and orange straps, and the fabric was chosen to have a certain sheen, giving it a great texture under indoor cool lighting. The lower body features a white short skirt paired with brown mid-calf boots, specially chosen with an orange strap design to echo the clothing details. In terms of props, that twisted wooden staff was handcrafted bit by bit using lightweight clay and PVC pipes, with the surface texture imitating deadwood, and the weight controlled to a level that wouldn't be too straining to hold with one hand. The shooting location was chosen as an indoor exhibition hall with a strong modern feel, featuring huge floor-to-ceiling windows and gray reflective floor tiles that presented a cold and hard industrial look. To match Mare's forest attribute, we brought in mossy deadwood, ferns, and a large number of artificial flowers, building a vibrant natural corner on the hard floor. The hardest part during the shooting was actually the set of actions lifting the white pigeon. That white pigeon was a simulation prop, which required steady support from arm strength while maintaining a calm facial expression. The posture leaning against the deadwood in the third picture looks relaxed, but in reality, the waist was constantly exerting force, and the angle was adjusted for a long time to highlight the leg lines and the boot texture. The butterflies scattered around were added through post-processing, adding a bit of agility to the frame. The one standing on the set casting a spell required an expansive posture and expressive eyes; both the height of the raised staff and the gesture of the other hand needed precise control, otherwise, it would easily look stiff. To recreate Mare's slightly aloof yet fantasy-colored temperament, I emphasized pale skin and deep green pupils in my makeup, keeping the eye makeup as clean as possible to avoid being too heavy. Although there was no twin coordination this time, the process of interpreting this character solo in front of the lens gave me a deeper understanding of the work. From early prop preparation to communicating light, shadow, and atmosphere with the photographer on-site, every step strove to closely fit the setting. Immersed in a scene where reality and fantasy intertwine, it felt as if I truly owned a quiet forest. This shoot was not just a tribute to the character, but also a challenge to personal body control and emotional expression; seeing the final photos made me feel that all the hard work was completely worth it.
