[Lauma cosplay] Genshin Impact Saintess of the Verdant Forest: Whispers Under the Moonlight

Wearing this Saintess of the Verdant Forest attire and standing before the camera, for a moment I felt as if I genuinely touched that cool moonlight in the woods of Nod-Krai. Deciding to do a Lauma cosplay this time was largely because of the character's trait of coexisting with nature, which, combined with the fresh look brought by Genshin Impact's Song of the Empty Moon version, made me eager to recreate her in my own way.

I previously saw others online sharing various styles of Lauma cosplay, mostly emphasizing her serene yet sacred aesthetic. My own small goal this time was to preserve that sacred feel while infusing a bit more casual authenticity of a "forest elf." For this shoot, I did plenty of homework in advance. Regarding wig styling, this dark blue wig heavily tests texture quality; to achieve a silky smooth state with natural luster, layered trimming alone took half a day. Wearing pointed elf ears and those ethereal white horn ornaments on my head, paired with light blue contact lenses, the divine vibe emerged instantly.

I also spent a lot of time communicating with the tailor regarding costume details. The blue-green strapless top design on the upper body, combined with extensive gold edging and the emerald gem pendant around the neck, strikes just the right balance between glamour and natural aura. What I loved most were those tulle streamers; having zero sense of constraint, as long as I moved or a light breeze blew past, the tulle hem would float gently like ripples across a water surface.

On set, I particularly enjoyed discussing lighting techniques with the photographer. For instance, in the last seated photo before a solid blue backdrop, we deliberately used very hard lighting to cast sharp shadows onto the wall. That crisp boundary between light and dark felt as though it truly concrete-ified moonlight. As for the photos sitting on the swing, paired with pink flower branches and Slime plushies on the floor, the atmosphere was instantly maxed out. The footwear design was unconventional—instead of boots or flat shoes, crisscrossing blue and white thin straps wrapped around my feet and calves, allowing leg lines to be better outlined when walking or squatting.

To me, doing cosplay is not merely putting on costume pieces and snapping pretty photos. It feels more like briefly stepping into another world time and time again to experience moments from a character's life. When sitting in the light and shadow of the woods, or walking alone between blue lights and incandescent bulbs inside the studio, I can feel the magical charm of 2D colliding with reality. I've also seen many players who love Genshin Impact sharing their exploration thoughts on Song of the Empty Moon and Nod-Krai; being able to participate through the character Lauma makes me truly happy. I hope this photoset under light and shadow conveys the gentle yet firm power I felt.
