This time, the makeup artist and the photo retoucher truly joined forces, and the overall result was genuinely stunning, making me want to record this look.
First, my biggest regret was the wig. I styled the hair myself, and my craftsmanship is indeed not quite there yet. The trimmed layers weren't as smooth as those done by a professional wig stylist, and the bangs were a bit heavy. Although I tried my best to style it, it still tended to flatten easily, falling slightly short for a 2D pretty boy character. Fortunately, the intense presence of the eye makeup made up for this.
The eye makeup specifically focused on cool-toned shadow work. The makeup artist used dark gel eyeliner with decisive lines, greatly elongating the eye shape with a slight upward flick at the outer corners. Paired with the catchlights, it made my naturally round eyes look much sharper and more aggressive. Delicate dark blending was applied under the eyes to deepen the eye sockets, while the eyebrows were drawn straight, thick, and dark. Facial contouring also favored a sharp bone structure, presenting an overall chilly, detached aura with a cool boyish vibe.
The shooting angle was slightly from above with my gaze looking subtly up toward the lens, which effectively lowered the eyelids to emphasize the brows and eye expression. Combined with the black Japanese-style short hair and the black-and-white sportswear, the visual focus was placed squarely on these eyes.
This was shot on-site at the Firefly event. Taking advantage of the good lighting, we found an indoor backdrop to take some photos. The brown and yellow cushions in the background happened to set off the cool, pale skin tone and black hair, which was an unexpected bonus.
The retoucher also helped immensely, smoothing the skin into a flawless, porcelain-like finish. The skin retouching was balanced just right without losing skin texture, fully accentuating the 3D facial contours. The shadow transitions along the cheeks were very natural, making the entire face appear much more refined.
Although the wig did not reach the most ideal state, the overall atmosphere was fully realized. Through great teamwork with the makeup artist and editor, the visual results of this photoshoot satisfied me immensely, perfectly showcasing the character's cold focus. It was a wonderful cosplay experience.
