Remielle's black design setup: ever since I saw the original art, I've been pondering how to present that dark yet dangerously seductive texture. The shooting process this time was truly exhilarating.
This outfit looks gorgeous, but wearing it is actually a technical task. The top is a patchwork of leather and mesh, with a very tight waist cincher; to fit the body shape, quite a bit of padding was added inside. The stiff white collar at the neckline combined with the black bow instantly elevates the aura. The sleeves are spliced with black translucent mesh and ruffles, creating a hazy sheer look when raising hands. The wig took the most effort: the pink short hair needed to be trimmed with layers while avoiding frizz, and the two black star hairpins and red-black bow are both finishing touches, paired with sharp elf ears, maximizing the dark vibe.
In terms of makeup, to match the overall atmosphere, the eye makeup emphasized red-toned blending, paired with red colored contacts and deep red lip glaze, which holds up well even in close-up shots. What satisfies me the most is the pairing of black stockings. Black stockings combined with white star leg rings, along with the black high heels featuring rivet elements on the feet, not only elongate the leg lines but also nicely modify the overall visual center of gravity. To capture that lazy yet dangerous posture, I tried various sitting poses; the combination of high heels and black stockings is the core of this visual presentation.
This time, photographer Little Martin from Arsenal was truly amazing. The scene setup was simply stunning—that huge red gear clock, the black throne, the iron cage, and the red roses; once the lighting hit, the story sense of the entire frame instantly emerged. Red background light and white light hit the subject, producing a strong contrast between cool and warm tones. To showcase that pair of black feathered wings and the open-back design, I had to constantly adjust my posture in the cold wind, especially for the second over-the-shoulder look photo, which actually strained my cervical spine and waist, but seeing the final photos made all the effort feel worth it.
Chains, crosses, throne—every prop is meant to shape the aura of the character Remielle. In one photo, I am holding chains and kneeling behind a cross, with my gaze needing to express that restrained yet aggressive expression. Actually, while striking these poses, the restriction from the outfit was quite strong, and I had to take deep breaths several times to adjust my state and try to present the most perfect side in front of the lens.
For cosplay, understanding the character's background setting is one thing, but more importantly, how to restore and re-create through one's own body language, costumes, and props. The texture of black stockings is prone to reflection under strong light and requires constant angle adjustments; the texture of the leather clothing has great highlight performance under cool light. During the shoot, I constantly communicated angles with the photographer to ensure every pose could balance the character's aura and the composition of the frame.
With the entire set of photos out, the effect matches my initial imagination of this black design concept. Next, I still need to figure out how to pack and store these complex accessories, otherwise I'll be scrambling like crazy for the next outdoor shoot.
