For this shoot at Dongguan Firefly SP02, we prepared extensively. The most awkward hiccup was forgetting to apply my tattoo stickers in advance. With natural light shifting rapidly outdoors, in order to faithfully recreate the look, I had to borrow makeup pens and hand-draw the markings line by line onto my arms. Drawing slowly while being careful not to smudge them took nearly an hour to finish both sides—I was truly exasperated by my own clumsiness.

Carrying this oversized prop was genuinely heavy physical labor. To give the weapon greater visual impact within the frame, I had to keep my arms tense and engaged while holding it, leaving my arms sore in no time. Huge thanks to photographer Qingfeng for continuously nailing the shutter timing and helping guide my angles—the low-angle upward shots in particular tested both stamina and real-time coordination.

Regarding the outfit, the blue-and-white color palette displayed crisp, distinct layering under light and shadow, with the ruffled hemline and sequins catching lustrous reflections whenever turning. The deep purple corset not only accented the overall color scheme but also flattered my upper body proportions. Furthermore, pairing plaid Stockings with high heels significantly elongated leg lines on camera, perfectly complementing this 2D costume aesthetic. For hair and makeup, vibrant bright blue twin-tails were chosen, standing out brilliantly in the sunlight; securing the wig and hair bows took considerable time and plenty of setting spray, but the outcome was fantastic.

The shooting day was physically exhausting: walking across concrete in white high heels while shouldering such a hefty prop to pose and channel character immersion left my legs feeling numb. To capture dynamic motion, the photographer had me pace back and forth multiple times. Finding the center of gravity on those heels was tricky and I nearly twisted my ankle midway, but seeing the raw previews proved that the dynamic tension was far better than expected.

Speaking of garment details, the golden sequins on the white dress are subtle in dimmer light but gleam brightly under direct illumination. The oversized greatsword prop had an interesting disassembly and assembly process, featuring intricate engravings across its surface that instantly gave the entire ensemble dimensional depth despite its weight. Strong outdoor reflections made checking details on screen challenging, but fortunately Qingfeng's seasoned experience ensured precise lighting control without letting my hand-drawn tattoo efforts go to waste. Pacing around consumed plenty of energy, yet maintaining an upright posture was essential to do justice to this gorgeous, eye-catching outfit. This experience at Dongguan Firefly was deeply fulfilling—despite the tedious prep, freezing those final frames proved this styling was the right choice. Looking at these photos now feels like bringing the character right from the screen into the real world, a sense of accomplishment unique to cosplay.
