Today I'm bringing you my cosplay project of Remielle from Zenless Zone Zero.
From committing to the character to wrapping the final photoshoot, the entire journey took nearly a month. The wardrobe design is exceptionally intricate with microscopic nuances that had to be faithfully recreated: from fabric selection and patterning to tailoring, every single stage required iterative confirmation.
For the wig, I selected short pink locks styled with layered texturing and hairspray for an organic silhouette, accented on both sides with red-and-black bowknots. In makeup, the eye styling emphasized depth and intensity, coordinated with a soft pink lip to align closely with the character's refined temperament.
The wardrobe is anchored primarily in deep navy and black. The cropped jacket is embellished with functional zippers and metallic buckles, layered over a black corset top featuring a white heart-shaped cutout emblem at the décolletage, complemented by a white collar bow at the neck. The lower half features lace-trimmed semi-sheer black stockings detailed with subtle black bow accents along the outer thighs and patterned with white star motifs. For footwear, I wore glossy black patent leather Mary Janes featuring studded ankle straps.
The most striking prop is undeniably the pair of black feathered wings spread across my back. The wings carry substantial physical volume, requiring mindful shifts in center of gravity once strapped on so my posture wouldn't tilt during takes. To accentuate the character's signature presence, I chose a solid pure-white background for the studio set, allowing the dark-toned garments and sprawling wings to stand out with razor-sharp contrast.
In pose choreography, I explored a semi-reclined posture with legs elegantly crossed. This stance not only showcases the holistic silhouette of the costume, but also accentuates leg contours and the intricate weave of the stockings. Before the lens, the limbs must hold a poised balance between comfort and visual tension—resting one hand naturally beside the thigh while bringing the other close to the face, looking directly into the lens with a piercing gaze.
Regarding studio lighting, soft frontal illumination was deployed to avoid blowing out harsh specular hotspots across the patent leather shoes and metallic hardware, while simultaneously ensuring the layered feather textures of the black wings were captured with crisp fidelity. The pure-white backdrop was carefully calibrated to guarantee a clean, cast-free canvas.
The entire shoot was physically demanding; maintaining designated poses meant sustained exertion from back muscles to counterbalance the wings' heft. Yet seeing the final retouched shots made every ounce of effort thoroughly worthwhile. The visual presentation of this ensemble and styling achieved everything I had envisioned. I hope this share offers helpful reference to fellow fans who appreciate this design or are currently preparing their own cosplay endeavors.
