Sunna from Zenless Zone Zero makes her appearance! This time, a set of highly vivid photos was shot to coordinate with the birthday theme. Using this photo set, I'd like to chat with everyone about the preparation details of this work regarding the styling, makeup/hair, and shooting environment in this photography sharing.
First, regarding the clothing choice, the iconic short-sleeved white shirt has a sharp silhouette, and the red star tie paired at the collar is the visual focus. It not only elongates the neck lines but also forms a color echo with the accessory below featuring a yellow sphere and cyan little wings. These small designs on the outfit, such as the little black eye patterns at the collar, perfectly restore the character's personality traits from the original game.
In terms of makeup and hair, I chose a highly personalized silver-gray wig. The styling on both sides of the top was made slightly fluffy, cooperating with those exquisite geometric small hairpins on the forehead to give the entire head a very clear visual center of gravity. I specially selected a pair of light-colored contacts with a slight mixed-race look, paired with upper and lower eyeliner to make the gaze appear more agile, while the thin black choker serves as the icing on the cake, adding to the character's sleek and cool vibe.
Undoubtedly, the most eye-catching feature this time is the pink-and-white striped decorations on the limbs. Whether it's the long half-palm gloves on the arms or the slouch socks on the legs, these highly saturated pink-and-white alternating stripes look exceptionally energetic under the neon lighting. There's also a pink leather thigh ring on the thigh, plus leg guard components with black-and-white Velcro buckles, which are highly design-oriented and add rich material layers to the frame, embodying a unique anime-style fashion look.
During the shoot, we utilized the neon signboard background at the convention site. The purple-pink light and shadow hitting the silver-gray hair color reflect a faint luster. I chose a posture of semi-sitting on a black exhibition stand, deliberately letting the camera look down from a diagonal upward angle. With my left hand gently raised and index finger pressing against my cheek, this angle not only perfectly displays the leg lines and the pink platform shoes on my feet but also makes the gaze look more narrative-driven.
Releasing this set of prints on my birthday, I hope this "little cake" can feel everyone's enthusiasm. The lighting and environment this time are somewhat psychedelic, which quite fits Sunna's own eccentric and agile image. In terms of props and scene arrangement, we tried our best to match the urban light sci-fi atmosphere of the game itself; the background flare and neon tube details in the photos add a lot to the work.
Speaking of mobility, the difficulty of restoring this outfit mainly lies in fixing the accessories, especially the tightness of the thigh ring and tie portions, which required repeated adjustments to ensure they were both beautiful and not constricting. Throughout the shooting process, I also tried different angles and expressions, striving to grasp the rebellious yet playful essence of this character.
Although the lighting in the scene was complex, after post-processing suppression and brightening of light and shadow, the color saturation of the final frame turned out very comfortable. Being able to share this work with everyone on such a special day carries a very unique meaning. Moving forward, I will continue to attempt restorations in more diverse styles, hoping to bring more tiny details of the character to everyone through the lens.
