The theme of this shoot centered on Remielle from Zenless Zone Zero. To deliver the visual impact of her varied forms, I partnered with Muyue to explore a black-and-white twin concept. Costume contrast served as a primary focus: the black outfit incorporated sheer mesh and glossy leather accented by metallic buckles and harness straps, which caught localized lighting in a low-key environment to highlight rich material textures. The white ensemble relied primarily on airy tulle, lace, and gathers for a softer demeanor. To give the hues distinct dimension, we differentiated wig colors—light pastel pink for White Remi and coral red for Black Remi, detailed with silver and black hairpieces respectively.

For makeup, both of us wore pointed elf ear prosthetics true to character design. Black Remi wore a more intense reddish-brown eye palette, while White Remi focused on luminous clarity. The set design was meticulously arranged: the first scene was shot around a vintage sofa backdrop draped in crimson roses, where we used physical gestures and gaze alignment to evoke their intricate emotional bond—the interlocking hand clasp took several adjustments to balance compositional tension with character fidelity. The second scene shifted before a grand piano; to complement the mood, we positioned candle-like practical lights as foreground fill, creating a striking textural clash between black fishnets and White stockings (alongside Black stockings tones). Framing around the piano took extensive exploration before settling on White Remi seated on the bench with hands hovering over the keys while Black Remi knelt on the carpet, producing dynamic vertical height while allowing skirts and wing props to fan out gracefully.

Managing this wardrobe involved countless delicate accessories—corsets, chokers, thigh bands, and arm cuffs required continual realignment between takes to prevent shifting. Mounting the wings took considerable effort, securing anchors inside the garments so they stayed firm through expansive poses. Special thanks to Muyue for seamless synergy, as many dual poses were refined organically on set. Retoucher Mingfan dedicated tremendous care to color grading, preserving garment textures across shadow zones while smoothing color gradations. The overall palette achieved a balanced dialogue between deep shadows and specular highlights, keeping visual cohesion across both distinct sets. The core of this shoot was honoring character aesthetics, and we hope everyone feels our creative interpretation through these details.
