The trip to Chengdu's CD anime convention has come to a complete end, and I recently organized the last bit of convention photos. This time I'm cosplaying Remilia from Touhou Project Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. The "ten-yuan convention photo, just ten yuan" meme is actually just joking around with photographer friends at the convention; after all, wearing such a gorgeous style really takes a lot of energy.
Let's talk about the wearing experience of this outfit first. The costume has a lot of layers. The upper body is a pink-and-white laced ruffled shirt, paired with a wine-red ribbon rose and a pearl necklace on the chest. The soft hat on the head is genuinely heavy, with pink lace borders and wine-red pleated ribbons layered on top of each other. To keep it standing up, adequate internal support must be made, and wearing it for a long time does make the neck a bit sore. Although the black bat wing props on the back look exaggerated, the weight is okay, except that you need to be extra careful to avoid surrounding crowds while walking so the wings don't hit others.
The skirt hem of the lower body features a short-in-front, long-in-back design, covered on the outside with a layer of semi-transparent tulle trimmed with wine-red edging, providing a strong flowing feel when walking, while the inner layer is a white lace puffy skirt. To match the overall styling, I wore white lace-trimmed short socks and a pair of red Mary Jane shoes. Walking around the exhibition hall for a whole day, the comfort level was quite acceptable. The red Western-style umbrella held in my hand was also specially matched; when opened, it echoed the color tones of the hat and costume extremely well, and the captured effect was very full. In terms of makeup, I deliberately wore reddish-brown contact lenses, and used reddish-brown tones for the eye makeup to deepen the contours, striving to restore that slightly mysterious yet majestic feeling of the character.
The scene at Chengdu's CD anime convention was lively as always. The venue is very large, and the roof truss structure and high-brightness lighting pose a considerable challenge for shooting. Top light easily casts ugly shadows on the face, so we spent a lot of effort finding angles. Sometimes it required the photographer to squat down and shoot from a low angle, or use natural light and shadow areas inside the venue for fill light. However, the atmosphere at the venue was truly great; everyone was very polite, and they would thank each other after every shoot.
Having cosplayed Touhou Project characters so many times, I have always had a special preference for Remilia. Her unique blend of noble temperament and childlike temper is particularly attractive to me. At the convention, even when wearing such cumbersome clothes, sometimes needing to lift the skirt hem up and down stairs, or sitting on a white plush blanket to strike poses, as long as I see the details of the costume perfectly presented in the final photos, I feel everything was worth it. That's all for this batch of convention photos return. Next up is organizing today's world line and getting a good rest.
