[Marisa Kirisame cosplay] Touhou Project: The Magician by the Autumn Waterside

Checking the weather forecast beforehand, we deliberately selected a waterside forest in late autumn for this shoot, aiming to harness the natural lighting of yellowing leaves to recreate the character's atmosphere. Starting with the hair and styling, this costume is packed with intricate details—the black main dress paired with an apricot pleated skirt hem, along with the striking red scarf around the collar, create an eye-catching combination. The wig is long, wavy, and light-toned, styled into double braids; however, this type of wig easily tangles in the woods, requiring frequent grooming throughout the shoot. The witch hat is massive, bordered with lace and structured with an internal frame—it has noticeable weight and easily blocks vision when looking down slightly, requiring me to steady it with a hand.

For props, we prepared a broom and a lantern. The wooden-handled broom features straw bristles and reaches just up to chest height, making it ideal for posing. The lantern was fitted with LED beads, providing a touch of warm fill light in darker spots. Poses mainly involved strolling across the withered ground by the water, attempting dynamic jumps and leg-lift poses. In shots like Photo 4, shifting my center of gravity onto the left leg while raising the right leg as high as possible, with the broom planted diagonally into the ground, allowed the skirt to flare naturally and reveal the black stockings (Stockings cosplay).

Light shifted rapidly during shooting; the sunlight at 3 PM was at its softest, casting golden rim light across hair strands under backlighting, while side lighting sculpted the delicate lace tiers of the outfit. The color grading of this set focused on warm yellows and oranges; autumn scenery naturally has rich saturation, and lifting the shadows slightly preserved background depth. Overall, this ensemble harmonized wonderfully with the autumn environment. Though physically tiring to shoot, the resulting texture is rich and satisfying. With fallen leaves by the water and luminous light, walking along the bank holding the broom or lantern as the wind gently rustles the skirt brought effortless, natural atmospheric immersion to every frame in this Touhou Project shoot.
