This set of Rem Maid outfit Convention photos was taken at the 2025 ChinaJoy venue, focusing on documenting the shooting process amid dense crowds. For the styling, I chose light blue short hair and white animal ears, along with the signature pink hair clip. The makeup centered on a clear, translucent pink-brown tone to reveal the charm of a Sweet girl beneath a cool aesthetic. The costume is a black-and-beige Maid outfit with several thick layers of lace petticoats underneath; walking around all day was exhausting, but it provided great visual layering on camera.
The convention environment was quite cluttered, usually requiring telephoto lenses to compress the space and use a shallow depth of field to blur out the background crowd. To create a leg-lengthening effect, we found a folding ladder on-site. Sitting on the edge of the ladder to leverage the telephoto perspective, paired with white slouch socks and platform shoes, elongated the leg lines very naturally. The third photo shows me sitting on the ladder extending my legs outward, a move that requires tightening the core to maintain balance. The other pose—standing on one leg while holding up a black tray—was snapped right in the crowd; my entire body was tensed up, and though I was slightly nervous, the resulting shot is full of dynamic energy.
Overhead lighting at conventions easily casts shadows under the eyes, so the photographer specifically used a fill light for close-ups to define facial contours, resulting in natural skin texture without exaggerated post-processing distortions. Posing with a tray is one of the most versatile choices for a maid look—it provides natural placement while keeping poses lively. Walking around the hall with animal ears and blue hair turned quite a few heads. Since the venue floor was cement gray, this black-and-white outfit was very photogenic in the cool lighting, and adding a touch of cool tones enhanced the overall clarity and translucency. I really love these photos that capture on-site authenticity; though not overly edited, they perfectly embody the lively spirit of the 2D character.
