This time, my partner and I created a fan-themed shoot for Taihou and Bai Feng from Azur Lane. I was in charge of Taihou's look, once again opting for a custom red-and-black tulle dress from ClawClaw Box. The overall presentation exudes a dark yet alluring vibe. The outer red tulle sleeves and ruffled hem are the soul of this outfit, creating a wonderful flow whether walking or sitting. The black fluffy earmuffs on my head and red ribbons add the finishing touches, pairing with my long white wig to naturally bring out Taihou's signature languid and charming essence.
Meanwhile, the Bai Feng cosplay beside me was also a visually striking presence today. The white-and-red short dress design, combined with the pair of giant white plush wings on her back, gave the character a sacred yet playful ambiance. Bai Feng's costume is equally packed with detail, particularly the red ruffled oversleeves on her arms and the red cord tie at her neck, forming a vivid color contrast with my black tulle.
The studio set we used this time leaned toward a European palace style. The white Roman pillars in the background, candle-shaped crystal chandeliers, and the off-white sofa with carved wooden trims all perfectly complemented the characters' setting. During the shoot, we tried several different poses. For instance, sitting on the sofa holding hands in the first photo was meant to reflect the subtle bond between Taihou and Bai Feng. In the second photo, we relaxed a bit more; Bai Feng was casually adjusting her large fluffy headpiece, and that candid moment looked much livelier than a staged pose.
In terms of styling, I personally value the texture of the stockings the most. Since my Taihou outfit incorporates Black stockings, against the backdrop of this red-and-black palette, the Black stockings make the lower body visually slimmer and longer, offering an elegant matte texture. Bai Feng is paired with White stockings, whose semi-sheer material similarly reveals rich layers when the light falls on them. During shooting, we paid special attention to capturing the lines of our legs and feet, which is a key test of overall visual balance in this kind of fan-work.
For post-processing, we retained a natural and translucent tone without over-smoothing the skin, preserving authentic skin texture. After all, fan photography is not just about showing the costumes, but making people feel as if the characters truly exist in reality. The entire shoot was delightful; the chemistry of duo interactions is something a solo shoot cannot replicate. I could see my partner's deep understanding of the character in her eyes—both her movement control and expressive gaze added immense tension to the final photos.
The clash of red, black, and white colors is truly timeless, combining Taihou's passionate intensity with Bai Feng's elegant agility. Especially under warm yellow lighting softened by sheer white curtains, the entire visual achieves a sophisticated soft-light texture. Wig styling was also crucial; I deliberately shaped the white wig into fluffy, layered volume to avoid looking flat. We also did plenty of prep work before the shoot, referencing numerous illustrations and dynamic poses.
Being able to successfully complete this duo fan photoshoot was made possible thanks to reliable styling and the tacit understanding with my partner. Each outfit carries its own unique language for the character. We poured our hearts into bringing them to life, and we hope to convey the charm of this shoot to everyone who loves this work.
