This photoshoot centered on a combined theme featuring Sandrone and Columbina cosplay from Genshin Impact. Sandrone is the Fatui's 'Marionette,' while I am undeniably the world's number one Columbina fan. Harmonizing elements of both characters into a cohesive photo set required substantial dedication, from costume preparation to prop curation. The outfit featured a white frock with yellow trim: the neckline boasted an exquisite ruffled stand-up collar accented by a black-and-gold cross motif on the chest, while bright yellow sailor-style lapels across the shoulders enriched overall layering. To mirror the Marionette's delicate, elegant, and subtly aloof nature, I paired long straight pale-blonde locks with blunt bangs and vivid blue contact lenses. My makeup emphasized dimensional facial planes, blending pink eyeshadow and generous blush to echo a distinct 2D art style alongside glossy, dewy lips. The lantern sleeves and tiered skirt structure put the tailoring to the test, yet in motion and poses, the pleats and white lace edging delivered gorgeous fluid kinetics. The shoot took place at Shanghai Jing'an Joy City, where the vibrant 2D culture provided the ideal backdrop for this aesthetic. On-site lighting demanded careful calibration to render the white-and-yellow palette clean, crisp, and luminous, while White stockings completed the styling. The photographer was exceptional, capturing candid moments of me lifting the skirt, holding a white parasol, or lounging along the corridor. Whether framed beneath the parasol's chiaroscuro or slumped languidly against hallway walls, the visual storytelling was remarkably rich. Notably, the retoucher—a fellow cosplayer with deep familiarity with the character—handled the final edits, aligning color grading and textures flawlessly with Genshin Impact's refined artistic vision. Lastly, the biggest highlight of the shoot: the custom life-sized Columbina body pillow. When it arrived, I was astonished by its colossal size; holding it in my arms practically concealed my entire torso, making me look tiny by comparison. Yet the oversized pillow proved fantastic on camera, featuring crisp printing and immense comfort. Alongside the body pillow, I brought an armful of plush Columbina dolls, prompting an 'excessive Columbina warning' across the final frames. Surrounding myself with plushies of all sizes enriched the framing while epitomizing Sandrone as the ultimate Columbina enthusiast. Sandrone's innate design carries mechanical detachment, which collided delightfully with the plushies' sweetness for an enchanting gap-moe charm. Despite the physical exhaustion of hauling props, dressing, and recalibrating expressions before the lens, seeing the final collection brought immense fulfillment—the finest tribute to our shared passion for these characters.
