This Reze cosplay shoot put a lot of thought into the makeup and styling. Let's talk about the eye makeup first. To recreate the character's green eyes, I specially chose highly pigmented emerald green colored contact lenses. The eyeshadow blending was kept as natural as possible, with the focus on outlining the eyeliner; slightly upturned outer eye corners add a hint of the character's sharpness. The lower eyelids were brushed lightly with a light brown to add depth. The false eyelashes were chosen to be separated and distinct, not too exaggerated. The eyebrows were lightly swept with purplish-red eyebrow powder matching the wig, keeping it from being too eye-catching and maintaining overall coordination. The base makeup pursued a translucent feel; after all, shooting under outdoor natural light means heavy makeup would look cakey. I used a long-wear foundation paired with setting powder to ensure a matte texture under strong light.
The wig was the key focus of preparation this time. Reze's purplish-red hair is very distinctive, and the wig I chose has good hair gloss, presenting a great layered feel under the sunlight. When trimming, the wispy bangs in the front needed to be long enough to just cover the eyes slightly, creating that sense of mystery. A bit of hair wax was used on the bangs to pinch out textures and avoid looking rigid. The hair on the sides was slightly styled outward to add a bit of dynamism. The small green hair accessory on top of the head is also the finishing touch, perfectly echoing the eye color and forming a small visual focal point in the frame.
In terms of clothing, it's a white high-necked inner layer paired with a black outer garment. The high-neck design makes the neck look more slender, but it's also a bit stuffy. During the shoot, I deliberately used my hand to gently clutch the neckline—a very natural little action that both showcases clothing details and prevents the posture from looking stiff. A simple metallic-colored choker was added to the neck to enhance the sense of detail. The black-and-white color-blocked clothes stand out vividly against the green background, highlighting the character subject very well.
Regarding the shooting, this time we chose outdoors, and natural light is the best filter. Side-backlighting hit the hair, forming a beautiful rim light that made the purplish-red hair strands look exceptionally translucent. The background was chosen as a patch of greenery; after wide-aperture blurring, it formed lovely bokeh, perfectly highlighting the character in front. Gaze control is very important. Reze herself is a character full of contradiction and mystery, so when looking into the lens, I tried to maintain a calm yet piercing gaze, paired with a slightly tucked jawline, hoping to capture her unique temperament. To keep the facial lines tight, my tongue gently pressed against the upper palate during the shoot—a very practical little tip.
The entire shooting process actually required quite a bit of patience because I had to constantly adjust angles to accommodate the light and ensure the wig's shape didn't get messy. By adjusting the height of the camera position, the distribution of light on the face can be changed. The light and shadow contrast in the final photos is extremely sharp, not only showcasing the character's traits but also bringing out a strong atmosphere.
