[Makima cosplay] Chainsaw Man Duo Cosplay Convention Photo: Nailing the Aura with White Shirt and Black Tie

Today, my partner and I shot a set of Duo cosplay Convention photo featuring Makima and Power from Chainsaw Man. The effect under outdoor natural light turned out surprisingly clean and translucent. Preparing these looks was actually more troublesome than expected—selecting colors and trimming the red hair and peach-pink wigs took quite some effort, with repeated adjustments to top volume and fringe curves. Once the signature contact lenses were in, our gazes instantly took on that character-specific presence, which, combined with cool-white base makeup and sharp eyeshadow, immediately elevated the cool, intense edge of the characters.

As a classic uniform pairing of a white shirt and black tie, although the elements seem simple, pulling off that neat yet personality-filled aura requires maintaining good posture. I tied my necktie knot quite tightly and kept the collar crisp and stiff. The massive red curved blade prop was exceptionally heavy; holding it while posing and maintaining the blade's sharp visual presence proved to be quite a test of arm and core strength. The prop features a glossy red finish, producing excellent reflections under sunny outdoor skies. My partner as Power on the right, with her long peach-pink hair, had her small red horn accessories securely attached so they didn't loosen even when moving around, while her amber pupils shone remarkably clear in the sunlight.

During the shoot, we tried to recreate that subtle tension between the characters. For those familiar with the original work, interactions carrying both pressure and faint bond—such as holding a chin or brushing a collar—wonderfully display our synergy and character dynamic. Close-up dual shots test expression control and eye contact heavily, but fortunately, our mutual familiarity allowed that complex friend-or-foe tension to snap into place instantly. In the third photo especially, with both of us looking into the camera, that mixed look of detachment and intimacy conveying "don't try anything clever" felt particularly expressive.

The chosen shooting location was along downtown streets and outside modern architectural complexes. Large glass curtain walls and off-white stone flooring provided great light bounce under ample daylight, rendering even facial lighting that required minimal post-processing. Natural light gave a sense of realism with a grounded, vivid atmosphere superior to studio settings. Shooting outdoors allows capturing casual moments, such as greetings, hand waves, or candid shots of fixing each other's outfits. A minor challenge was occasionally drawing curious passersby, but everyone was friendly, and we completed the shoot quickly and efficiently.

Every time I cosplay a character with a cool composure and distinctive design, the sense of immersion is intense. White shirts, black ties, bright red hair, and horns certainly turned heads on the street. We purposely tried various poses—combining close-ups that highlight eyes and facial expressions with medium shots leaving room for the prop and full costume ensemble. The photographer excelled at capturing moments true to the characters' personalities without over-exaggeration, communicating traits through detail. Immersing oneself into the character alongside seamless partner synergy made this session extraordinarily enjoyable. I hope the atmosphere created through makeup, costume fidelity, and detailed control conveys my interpretation of this Chainsaw Man look.
