This outdoor cosplay photoshoot selected a minimalist black dress look to recreate the character's cold, detached daily vibe. Regarding the wig, this purple hair truly took a lot of effort during styling. To fit the curves of the head, the bangs and sideburns had to be trimmed very meticulously, and the flow of the hair strands also had to adapt to the wind, so that the silhouette captured from any angle wouldn't look rigid.
For the makeup, a clean and sharp matte texture was chosen, focusing on using shadows to emphasize the contours instead of vivid colors. This way, even under intense natural sunlight, the facial transition between light and dark looks natural without producing any greasy sheen. In terms of clothing, this black off-the-shoulder bodycon dress features a very generous cut, beautifully highlighting the advantages of the shoulder and neck area. The combination of black tights and thick-soled patent leather Mary Janes stabilizes the visual weight of the lower body, making the overall proportions look quite elongated.
The choice of props this time includes white flowers and a transparent umbrella. The white chamomile should be considered a brilliant finishing touch in a dark-toned aesthetic outfit. I intentionally held it in my hand or tucked it into my hair; this splash of pure white forms a distinct visual collision with the black skirt hem and purple hair, preventing the frame from looking dead and dull. Under a shallow depth of field lens, the transparent umbrella can refract light, adding a touch of softness to the harsh outdoor background.
The shooting scenes were mainly selected outdoors containing industrial elements, such as the wire mesh beside the footbridge and the steps of the staircase. This kind of environment carries a cold, grim grey tone, which is highly compatible with the black clothing. During the shoot, we actually relied heavily on natural light, especially for that photo of sitting on the stairs. At that time in the afternoon, the sunlight just happened to shine down from diagonally above, casting onto the wall and my body, pulling out long shadows. This kind of harsh light and shadow is precisely the effect I imagined, as it can immensely enhance the emotion and tension of the frame.
Shifting between squatting and standing postures, I needed to pay extra attention to the length of the skirt hem and the focal point of the thick-soled shoes. The length of the dress is at mid-thigh; if the standing posture looks too constrained, the lazy feel will be lost, so it was necessary to slightly straighten the spine while relaxing the shoulders, pulling off an effortless cold look. As for the one sitting on the stairs, to coordinate with the environment, I intentionally bent my knees to a certain angle, letting the leg lines interlace with the lines of the steps to increase the layered feel of the image. During the shoot, the moment the wind blew through the hair strands often brought unexpected dynamic effects; as long as the expression was maintained, highly natural moments could be captured.
In terms of posture and expression management, I tried my best to keep myself in a highly relaxed, even somewhat lazy state. That style of not deliberately expressing joy or sorrow, but instead calmly focusing on the flower in hand or the entire environment, looks like a casual yet exquisite aesthetic. This outdoor shoot is not only a character presentation but also a re-understanding of lighting and styling. Without conscious acting, through the mutual cooperation of the costume, props, and natural lighting, that mysterious temperament belonging to this specific character naturally flows out. I hope everyone enjoys this quiet yet cool and dashing photography style captured through Anime-style photography.
