The finished cosplay photoshoot for Yuezheng Ling's "Love Letter" is finally here to share with everyone. The concept of this shoot revolves around the emotional progression of the song. To faithfully portray the character's mindset as she transitions from overcast skies into clear daylight, we poured immense dedication into hair, makeup, and location scouting.

First, a few words on hair and makeup styling. For Yuezheng Ling's iconic long straight brown hair, the bangs were trimmed into neat, blunt layers, while that anti-gravity ahoge cowlick on top was adjusted repeatedly with hairspray and styling clips to ensure it perked up playfulness from every angle. The slender side braid was woven by hand bit by bit and secured at the end with a small red hair tie, swaying alongside the skirt with every step. For the eyes, I chose reddish-brown contact lenses paired with warm, peachy-orange eyeshadow and blush, giving the face a gentle, translucent radiance under the sunlight.

In terms of wardrobe, the inner layer featured a white long-sleeve blouse with delicate lace trims along the collar and cuffs, accented by a slender red ribbon tied at the neckline. Layered over it was a red suspender pinafore dress edged with white lace along the hem. In choosing the fabric, I opted for a wrinkle-resistant material with a graceful drape to ensure a lovely silhouette when running or twirling outdoors. On my legs were white over-the-knee socks (Stockings) paired with chunky red platform Mary Jane shoes. The overall contrast of this ensemble was striking, and the crisp red-and-white color palette looked exceptionally pristine against the pastel pink backdrop of cherry blossoms.

The outdoor location was chosen in a park during Cherry blossom season. To beat the peak tourist crowds, we got an early start at dawn. The morning sunlight was soft and gentle, casting gorgeous rim light along the translucent edges of the sakura petals in backlit shots. When capturing image one, I wanted to express the character's lively side, so I designed a pose kicking one leg backward, raising my left hand in greeting, and gently pinching the skirt hem with my right hand. The photographer clicked through dozens of continuous bursts just to freeze the perfect flare of the skirt and the lines of my legs. Images two and three conveyed different emotional nuances: cradling the bright yellow folder—a vibrant, eye-catching prop tied with a red ribbon to echo the dress—and standing quietly under the blooming cherry trees as sunlight dappled through the branches onto my face, naturally channeling a serene, subtly melancholic, yet hope-filled atmosphere.

The cherry blossom bloom is brief, and petals drift down continuously whenever a breeze passes through. To capture the fluttering petals in image three, we waited beneath the branches for intermittent gusts of wind. While outdoor photography is physically taxing—demanding constant vigilance over facial expressions, wig neatness, and shifting reflector angles to fill facial shadows—seeing the finished deliverables made me feel that the day's wind, sunlight, and sakura blossoms harmonized flawlessly with our creative vision. I hope this photo set conveys the tender emotion of wanting to see someone's overcast heart turn bright and clear, serving as my heartfelt tribute to this beloved Vocaloid track.
