Recreating Sun Shangxiang from Honor of Kings, the focus of this shoot is on the clothing material and the texture of the overall color palette.
The most time-consuming part of the makeup and hair styling was managing the wig. To match the character's bold and cool personality, the bows on both sides of the head had to remain crisp and stiff, not limp. The green colored contacts worn this time were also coordinated with the tone of the eye makeup to give the gaze more charm, which, paired with the thick, long black hair, made the overall facial silhouette look clean and sharp.
The yellow-green tone of the costume is highly conspicuous, and the texture of the physical outfit was actually better than I expected. In particular, the light blue and white geometric patchwork on the chest is cut sharply, fitting the overall combat style beautifully. The black leather belt section and the black wristbands on the arms act as a great constriction against the large area of yellow-green, preventing the look from appearing bulky. The gloves were chosen in a glossy material, yielding excellent reflective effects under the strong overhead lighting at the convention.
The pairing on the lower body is a major eye-catching point of this look. The choice of translucent black stockings makes the leg lines look more even, while creating a texture clash with the patent leather black platform high heels. It carries both the aura of a combat character and a solid degree of recognition amidst the convention crowds.
Regarding the pose design, I chose this half-kneeling posture in photo 2 to display as the cover. This is because a full-body perspective can completely showcase the structural characteristics of the costume, especially the props and leg lines. In an environment with a cluttered background like the convention venue, the photographer needed to find a slightly open and level spot to avoid the movement of other visitors. During the shoot, I placed my center of gravity on one leg while stretching the other forward, maintaining an elongated sense of body proportions without looking intentionally stiff.
Fortunately, even with complex exhibition lights and a messy background behind me, the on-site lighting setup and reflector usage for this shoot were well-executed, making the lighting on my face very even. The main idea for post-processing was to retain skin texture while performing hue correction on the vibrant yellow-green tones to make them look crisper and brighter, rather than looking too plastic. The reflection spots on the patent leather high heels and the light-dark contrast along the edges of the cuffs were also fine-tuned in post-processing.
As a candid set of Convention photography at an exhibition, I am very satisfied with the final light and shadow atmosphere presented this time. Walking around the venue in this outfit certainly drew a lot of eyes, which, of course, largely benefited from the visual impact of the green colored contacts and the dramatic hairstyle. However, maintaining the hairstyle and makeup well at the event venue required immense effort; the long black hair was easily squeezed or messed up, so I had to tidy up the wig from time to time besides taking photos.
Looking at the final photos, the level of completion for this look is higher than I anticipated. For cosplay, beautiful final images are inseparable from the photographer's grasp of the site's ambient lighting and the subsequent depiction of details during retouching. The design of this look inherently balances bold expression and refinement. In the actual final images, the combination of yellow-green, black stockings, and patent leather high heels looks incredibly powerful and fashionable, making it a very smooth convention shoot experience as a Role-playing game portrayal.
