[Chang'e cosplay] Honor of Kings: The Luminous Mid-Autumn Moonlight

Today's feature is Chang'e from Honor of Kings. The garment's palette is anchored in pale celestial blue and pure white, draped in ultra-lightweight translucent sheer chiffon that floats effortlessly with movement; however, shooting outdoors meant continually monitoring the wind direction to keep the sweeping skirt and celestial ribbons from tangling. The bodice construction is richly layered: beyond the peach-orange tassel ties, a slender navy sash cascades down the center, visually elongating the torso. The silver winged coronet and plush white pom-poms serve as the crowning accents of the headpiece; though they appear feather-light, the armature carries noticeable weight. Anchoring this alongside the cascading pale-blue silk ribbons trailing behind and at the temples required countless hairpin adjustments to ensure nothing shifted during movement.

The pastel pink round silk fan served as our primary prop; its soft, gentle hue harmonized effortlessly with the wardrobe's tones. To embody the theme of making a wish upon the moon for the Mid-Autumn Festival, we timed the shoot for twilight, perfectly catching the sky's soft transition into violet-pink gradients against the silhouetted mountain ridges in the distance. To foster a quiet, tranquil atmosphere, choreography had to remain fluid and natural—holding the fan close to the chest with both hands, or resting it lightly in one hand while tilting my head toward the lens, all worked to convey that ethereal, aloof serenity. For makeup, we focused on refined brows and eyes, using light-toned contact lenses for crystalline eye clarity, grounded by a breathable foundation and delicate, warm rose tones across the cheeks and lips.

Because this was an outdoor location shoot, changing daylight demanded rapid shutter bursts, making the wind's timing crucial. Several final frames candidly captured the trailing silk ribbons billowed by natural breezes, delivering effortless weightlessness directly in-camera without artificial post-processing effects. Reflecting on Honor of Kings' Chang'e, this design faithfully encapsulates the mythical essence of the Moon Palace fairy. Through this series, gazing upward to make a wish for the Mid-Autumn Festival, I hope all future shoots progress smoothly, and I wish everyone a very Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! Keeping the props minimalist with just a classic fan was the right call. Preparing this look took extensive effort across textile selection, accessory crafting, and makeup tests. Despite the warm temperature, the airy chiffon kept things comfortable, and lingering outdoors for the perfect shot was entirely worth it. Frequent communication with the photographer to review playback ensured the garment's billowy elegance was captured at its absolute best.
