For this shoot, the client specifically requested a Vintage makeup style with a natural feel, a makeup approach that truly tests a makeup artist's restraint. First, for the base makeup, there was no excessive coverage, preserving some of the skin's original translucency and texture; a thin, sheer layer was sufficient, as being too heavy would destroy the character's ethereal essence. The eye makeup was the focal point: avoiding large areas of glitter or thick black eyeliner, I merely brushed a very subtle taupe-brown across the eye socket and gently extended the eyeliner along the outer corners, placing all the focus on those crimson pupils. For the lips, I selected a natural shade very close to the natural lip tone, looking almost bare yet carrying a faint rosy glow—this makeup made the character's gaze appear exceptionally pure.
Paired with this white ballet tulle skirt, blue choker, and pointe shoe ribbons, the Balletcore outfit presented an overall clean, cool, and delicately vulnerable temperament. During the shoot, I guided the model to try relatively fluid poses imbued with dance rhythm, such as pulling ribbons and hugging her knees; coordinated with the studio lighting, this accentuated both her leg lines and the airy lightness of the tulle skirt, further aligning with the character's isolated, otherworldly persona from Neon Genesis Evangelion. In fact, there is no need to deliberately chase the currently trendy mask-like perfection; that raw, natural skin texture and semi-translucent quality best capture the character's soul in this Natural-style cosplay. Every detail of the styling and shoot was deeply satisfying, and the overall atmosphere was captured with great precision.
