[Momo Ayase cosplay] Relaxed and lively Dandadan Momo-chan through a friend's lens

These photos taken by my close friend made me fall completely in love the moment I got them—truly "god-tier pictures"—so I just had to write a separate post to record this happiness.

This time I'm tackling Momo Ayase from Dandadan. Her iconic red hair and casual outfit are super recognizable. For the makeup, I intentionally emphasized the red contact lenses echoing the eye makeup, and carefully outlined that tiny red dot above the right eyebrow. Though it's just a small detail, adding it instantly brings out that lively spark in the gaze. The wig is a textured vibrant red with a neat layered cut, avoiding any bulky feel. Combined with natural shadow zones, it retains great three-dimensionality even under the overhead lighting at the anime convention.

For the clothing combination, I chose an oversized drop-shoulder light pink hoodie paired with a pure white shirt inside. The absolute highlight is the super glossy large red bow on the chest. I spent ages picking out this bow, opting for a satin-textured material that naturally catches soft highlights under the light without looking cheap at all. The wide black choker around the neck is a stroke of genius, grounding the color palette's center of gravity and drawing more focus to the face. I picked out long dark green earrings for a subtle color-blocking trick, keeping the overall look from feeling monotonous. This casual cosplay style actually tests material details far more than heavy battle gear, but fortunately, the physical result is super satisfying.

In terms of composition, my friend purposely found a clean white tile wall, using the solid-color background to completely highlight the subject. My pose is quite relaxed: one hand on my hip, the other casually flashing a number sign near my face, head tilted slightly toward the lens, putting my whole body in a super relaxed state. Shots captured this way maximize the body's instinctive reactions without any awkward, forced posing.

Speaking of convention photos, I have to mention the funny joke about picture 2: "When I received the photos, I didn't even know who that girl inside was." Although this meme frequently circulates in the convention circle, looking at these straight-out-of-camera photos taken by my friend today, I'm quite certain that the red-haired girl right in front of me is none other than myself, completely immersed in my own world at this very moment. The charm of cosplay probably lies right here—it injects a twist into our daily lives, letting you briefly experience a state unlike before. This instant contrast and sense of immersion are truly mesmerizing.

With crowds surging at the convention venue, finding a quiet corner to take such clean, unedited convention photos is truly thanks to my friend's professionalism. In front of the lens, there's no need to deliberately overthink how to pose, because once you wear the clothes and accessories matching the character's temperament, muscle memory and character habits just seem to flow naturally. Every expression, every subtle hand movement, aligns with the soul of that setting.

Moreover, after playing cosplay for so long, I increasingly feel that the interaction between the photographer and the subject is truly crucial for whether photos turn out well. Today was filled with a relaxed, giggly atmosphere from start to finish. There was no need to worry about failing to strike a good pose or insufficient lighting, because my friend always keenly captured those fleeting seconds of vibrancy. This kind of pure joy cannot be replaced by any exquisite post-processing or gorgeous sets.

Finally, no matter which convention or shooting location you're at, keeping your passion and original intention is what matters most. This seemingly casual anime-style fashion actually hides many details rooted in character comprehension, like how to tie the bow symmetrically or how to style the wig naturally. Bringing a 2D character into the 3D world is in itself an immensely fulfilling achievement. After finishing this set today, I feel completely recharged, and the lingering vibe of happiness is still spreading—truly a deeply satisfying convention outing experience!
